The White Sox designated Pereira for assignment Monday.
The transaction clears space on the 40-man roster for the addition of Joey Bart. Pereira slashed .225/.284/.438 with four home runs and a 5:30 BB:K across 88 plate appearances for the White Sox this season. The 25-year-old had been filling the short side of a platoon in the outfield, but he became expendable after the White Sox acquired another right-handed-hitting outfielder (Brenton Doyle) earlier Monday.
