Wiemer signed a minor-league contract with the White Sox on Friday, Scott Merkin of MLB.com reports.
Wiemer was cut loose by Washington on Wednesday after slashing just .189/.271/.250 across 166 plate appearances in the minors. He'll now receive a new opportunity with the White Sox but is likely to play out the rest of the season at Triple-A Charlotte.
