The White Sox plan to send Teel (ankle) to Triple-A Charlotte on Tuesday to begin a rehab assignment, Scott Merkin of MLB.com reports.
Teel landed back on the IL on July 21 due to a left high-ankle sprain, but he's recovering faster than anticipated and was able to run the bases a couple of times this weekend without issue. The White Sox haven't outlined how long Teel's rehab assignment will last, but as soon as he proves he can catch a full nine-inning game, he'll likely return to the big-league roster. Chicago has been getting by with a timeshare of Drew Romo and Jake Rogers behind the plate of late, but Teel will take over as the clear No. 1 backstop once he's healthy.
