Kahnle was recalled from Triple-A Charlotte on Friday.
Due to Melky Cabrera being placed on the Family Emergency Leave List, Kahnle was called up and will be ready to go for Friday's game against Detroit. Kahnle has bounced around a couple of times this season between the White Sox and Charlotte and has held his own with Chicago, allowing two hits and one earned run during 3.1 innings of work. If he can settle in and avoid giving up walks, Kahnle could prove that he should stay with the big league club for good.
