Ishikawa could make the White Sox's roster as the team's backup first baseman, the Chicago Tribune reports.
Adam LaRoche's sudden retirement not only left the White Sox without a DH, but they now also lack a backup to Jose Abreu at first. Guys like Melky Cabrera and Avisail Garcia can fill the first hole, but the active roster lacks someone who can fill the latter. Ishikawa is in camp as a NRI, has many years of first base experience, and is off to a nice start this spring. The White Sox may look outside the organization as well.
