Gilbert will be making his first MLB start since the 2022 season Friday, likely covering the first 1-to-3 innings of the game before giving way to Sean Burke, who had previously been in line to start in the series opener in Sacramento. Over his six appearances out of the bullpen this season, Gilbert has covered 5.2 innings while allowing five earned runs on five hits and three walks.
