The White Sox placed Gilbert on the 15-day injured list Wednesday with a left shoulder impingement.

Gilbert retired one of three batters he faced in Tuesday's extra-innings win over Atlanta and finds himself on the IL a day later. Chris Murphy will take over Gilbert's vacated roster spot.
