Volpe went 3-for-4 with two RBI in Friday's 4-2 extra-inning win over the Athletics.
Volpe had gone just 5-for-44 (.114) while striking out 15 times over a 13-game span between multi-hit efforts. Two of his singles Friday plated a run, including an insurance run in the 10th inning. His September slump has taken a toll on his overall numbers, which are now at a .248/.295/.369 slash line with 11 home runs, 57 RBI, 88 runs scored and 26 stolen bases through 152 contests. Still, he's not at risk of losing his near-everyday role at shortstop.
