Volpe (foot) underwent X-rays on his left foot, which came back clean following Thursday's 9-4 loss to the Angels, Gary Phillips of the New York Daily News reports.
Volpe was forced to leave Thursday's contest in the eighth inning after dealing with foot pain stemming from a foul ball in the second frame. The shortstop avoided any fractures and is dealing with a contusion ahead of Friday's series opener at home against the Rangers. Manager Aaron Boone is uncertain if Volpe will be able to go Friday, but he can be considered day-to-day for the time being.
