Wells isn't in the Yankees' lineup for Saturday's game against the Athletics.
Wells went 0-for-5 with a strikeout during Friday's series opener and will now take a seat against the left-handed JP Sears. Jose Trevino will fill in as New York's catcher and bat ninth.
