Rice will start at first base and bat fifth Thursday in Game 3 of the American League Wild Card Series against the Red Sox.
The left-handed-hitting Rice usually yields to Paul Goldschmidt at first base versus left-handed pitching. However, after going 2-for-4 with a home run in Game 2, Rice will draw another start at the position as the Red Sox send southpaw Connelly Early to the mound.
