Yankees manager Aaron Boone indicated Tuesday that Schmidt has made the team's Opening Day roster, Greg Joyce of the New York Post reports.
Schmidt was injured most of last season but came into spring training healthy. He was one of the team's top pitchers in Grapefruit League play, posting a 3.86 ERA, 0.86 WHIP and 11:2 K:BB across 9.1 innings. The 26-year-od will likely take on a bullpen role to begin the campaign.
