The Yankees placed Cruz on the 15-day injured list Monday with a left oblique strain.
Cruz injured his oblique while warming up with a medicine ball in the weight room Sunday, Bryan Hoch of MLB.com reports. He'll undergo an MRI on Monday to determine the severity of the strain. Geoff Hartlieb was called up from Triple-A Scranton/Wilkes-Barre to take Cruz's spot in the bullpen.
