Jones cleared waivers and was outrighted to Triple-A Scranton/Wilkes-Barre by the Yankees on Friday.
The 26-year-old was designated for assignment by New York on Monday but will remain in the organization after passing through waivers unclaimed. Jones spent the first four months of the season on the Yankees' active roster, but he totaled just 47 plate appearances in 33 games and had a .685 OPS and 34 percent strikeout rate.
