Gil (15-7) took the loss Saturday, coughing up six runs on six hits -- including four home runs -- and a walk over 5.2 innings as the Yankees fell 9-4 to the Pirates. He struck out five.

The only other time this season Gil served up multiple homers came back on Apr. 26, when the Brewers socked two off him in a no-decision. It's a rough ending to a brilliant regular season, but the 26-year-old righty still heads into the playoffs with a 3.50 ERA, 1.19 WHIP and 171:77 K:BB through 151.2 innings. Gil should have a big role in the Yankees' postseason rotation, but with a bye for the wild-card round, it's not yet clear when he'll next take the mound.
