This long ball ended a 19-game homer drought for Goldschmidt, who hit just .197 (13-for-66) in that span. The first baseman is up to 22 homers on the year, but his .241/.299/.403 slash line represents career-low numbers across the board. He's added 62 RBI, 69 runs scored and 11 stolen bases across 152 games.

Goldschmidt went 2-for-4 with a stolen base and two runs scored in Thursday's 3-2 loss to the Pirates. Goldschmidt had a pair of singles and was knocked in by Brendan Donovan both times for the Cardinals' lone runs of the game. After going 0-for-9 over four games from Sept. 14-17, Goldschmidt has bounced back a bit. The first baseman is now batting .290 (18-for-62) in September and has a .246/.303/.412 slash line with 21 home runs, 60 RBI, 27 runs scored and 11 steals over 146 contests overall.

Goldschmidt went 0-for-2 with a walk and a stolen base in Tuesday's 3-1 win over the Pirates. Goldschmidt was held hitless for his fourth game in a row, but he was able to draw a walk for the fourth time in eight contests. The first baseman's steal was his 10th of the year -- he's reached double digits in three of the last four seasons and a total of eight times in his 14-year career. Goldschmidt has added a mediocre .244/.303/.410 slash line with 21 home runs, 59 RBI and 63 runs scored through 144 contests in what's been the worst season of his career by many metrics.

Goldschmidt is out of the lineup for Sunday's game against the Blue Jays. Goldschmidt will receive Sunday off after a stretch of 18 straight starts, during which he batted .391 with 10 doubles, two homers and 10 RBI. Alec Burleson will shift to first base while Luken Baker serves as the designated hitter in the series finale at Toronto.
