• Twins' Sean Gilmartin: Reaches deal with Twins

  Gilmartin signed a minor-league contract with the Twins on Tuesday. The well-traveled lefty is expected to report to Triple-A St. Paul as he begins his second stint with the Twins organization. Gilmartin, who most recently played for the Long Island Ducks of the independent Atlantic League of Professional Baseball, has previously seen big-league action with the Mets, Orioles and Rays. Over 81 career outings, Gilmartin owns a 4.34 ERA and 1.42 WHIP.

  Gilmartin cleared waivers and accepted an outright assignment to the Rays' alternate squad, Marc Topkin of the Tampa Bay Times reports. Gilmartin went unclaimed on waivers once again, and he'll remain with the Rays as part of the alternate club during the postseason. The southpaw gave up four runs over 4.1 relief innings during the regular season.

  The Rays designated Gilmartin for assignment Tuesday. Gilmartin surrendered his spot on the 40-man roster to pitching prospect Shane McClanahan, who will join the Tampa Bay bullpen for the team's postseason run. The 30-year-old Gilmartin made two appearances for the big club during the regular season, giving up four earned runs in 4.1 innings of relief.

The 30-year-old was outrighted to the alternate training site in late August but will return to the 40-man roster with a week left in the regular season.   Gilmartin cleared waivers Tuesday and was outrighted to the Rays' alternate training site, Neil Solondz of the Rays Radio Network reports. Gilmartin was designated for assignment for the second time this season Sunday, and he cleared waivers once again. He'll accept his outright assignment and remain in the organization at secondary camp. Over two appearances in 2020, Gilmartin allowed four runs on seven hits with a 5:4 K:BB over 4.1 innings.
