  • Lewis Brinson: Heading to Japan
    By RotoWire

Brinson agreed to a contract Jan. 11 with the Yomiuri Giants of Japan's Nippon Professional Baseball, Sports Hochi reports. Brinson spent the 2022 season in the Houston and San Francisco organizations. His lone big-league action came with the latter club, with the 28-year-old slashing .167/.211/.472 with three home runs and a stolen base in 39 plate appearances before being pushed off the 40-man roster. Rather than settling for a minor-league deal this winter after electing free agency in October, Brinson opted to head overseas for the first time in his career on what's presumably a more lucrative deal with Yomiuri.

  • Brinson cleared waivers and was outrighted to Triple-A Sacramento on Saturday. Brinson was cast off the Giants' 40-man roster Wednesday, and he'll remain in the organization after going unclaimed on waivers. The 28-year-old has slashed .296/.354/.571 with 22 home runs, 63 RBI, 61 runs and five stolen bases over 85 Triple-A games this year.

  • Brinson was designated for assignment by the Giants on Wednesday, Maria I. Guardado of MLB.com reports. Brinson has a respectable .766 OPS with the Giants this season over 35 plate appearances, but his .235 OBP is far below what they were hoping to get from him and he now faces more time in the minors should he go unclaimed. The move comes as a direct consequence of San Francisco adding Jason Vosler to the major-league roster.

  • Giants' Lewis Brinson: Records first steal
    By RotoWire

Brinson went 0-for-2 with two walks, a stolen base and a run scored in Sunday's 4-2 win over the Cubs. Brinson's hitless stretch extended to 0-for-11, but he picked up his first walk and stolen base as a Giant in this contest. He hit three home runs in his first five games with San Francisco, but he's since cooled off and remains unlikely to see more than a short-side platoon role down the stretch. He's added four RBI, four runs scored and a .192/.250/.577 slash line through 29 plate appearances.

  • Brinson went 1-for-4 with a solo home run in Tuesday's 6-3 loss to the Dodgers. Brinson hit his third homer in the last two games as he continues to thrive against left-handed pitching. He's now batting .333 through five games as a Giant, adding four RBI and three runs scored. He could find himself locked into the short side of a platoon in center field going forward as long as his bat remains steady.
