Ervin cleared waivers Saturday and was outrighted to Atlanta's alternate site, David O'Brien of The Athletic reports. Ervin's .247/.322/.406 slash line through 660 career plate appearances at the highest level is nothing special, but it's still somewhat surprising that none of the other 29 teams found him worthy of at least a fifth outfielder spot. He'll remain a depth option in Atlanta going forward.

Ervin was designated for assignment by Atlanta on Saturday. Ervin was claimed off waivers by Atlanta prior to spring training and hit .276 with two RBI and one stolen base in 18 spring games this year. However, he was unable to secure a spot on the Opening Day roster and could have to settle for a minor-league role to begin the regular season.

Ervin was claimed off waivers by Atlanta on Monday. Ervin now finds himself with his fourth organization in the last six months. He opened last year with the Reds before being dropped from the roster in August and claimed by the Mariners, where he spent the rest of the campaign. He then spent a pair of months in the Cubs' organization over the winter before being waived and picked up by Atlanta. The constant moves align with Ervin's resume, as his career .247/.322/.406 line in 660 career plate appearances is good enough to deserve a bench spot but not good enough that any given team feels compelled to guarantee him a job. Whether or not he finally finds stability in Atlanta remains to be seen.

Ervin was designated for assignment Saturday, Gordon Wittenmyer of NBC Sports Chicago reports. Ervin was claimed off waivers from Seattle in December, but the Cubs evidently no longer saw the need to keep him around after signing Jake Marisnick to be a bench outfielder. Ervin's track record suggests that he'd make a fine bench outfielder himself, as he owns a career .247/.322/.406 line and can fill in at center field, but the fact that he hit just .149/.292/.189 in 89 trips to the plate last season may scare away potential suitors.

Ervin was claimed off waivers by the Cubs on Tuesday. Ervin appeared in 37 games for the Reds and Mariners last season but had very little success, hitting just .149/.292/189. He hit a respectable .262/.326/.438 over his first three partial seasons, however, making him at least a decent bench option if he returns to form.
