Herrera signed a minor-league contract with the Blue Jays on April 28, MiLB.com reports. Toronto assigned Herrera to Triple-A Buffalo prior to the start of the minor-league season last week, and he's proceeded to go 2-for-12 with five total bases over his first three games with the affiliate. The 27-year-old Herrera has previously seen action in the big leagues over parts of four seasons with the Mets, Reds and Orioles, producing a .199/.290/.386 career slash line.

Herrera cleared waivers and was outrighted to the Orioles' alternate training site Saturday, Roch Kubatko of MASNSports.com reports. Herrera was designated for assignment Tuesday after spending a week in the majors, and he'll remain in the organization after going unclaimed on waivers. The 26-year-old slashed .248/.330/.501 with 24 home runs and 64 RBI with Triple-A Syracuse last season.

Herrera was designated for assignment by the Orioles on Tuesday. Herrera spent a week with the major-league club and went 0-for-5 with four strikeouts during that time. He reached base just once after he was hit by a pitch. The 26-year-old will now be cast off the 40-man roster, and it's unclear whether he'll find a spot with another organization given his lackluster results in the big leagues.

Herrera's contract was selected by the Orioles on Tuesday. Herrera has yet to make his season debut and hit just .184/.268/.414 in 97 plate appearances for the Reds in 2018, his most recent big-league campaign, striking out at a 40.2 percent clip. He'll give the Orioles some added infield depth but is unlikely to play frequently.

Herrera will be a part of the Orioles' 60-man player pool this season. Once a noteworthy prospect with the Mets, Herrera was in camp on a minor-league deal this season. He could provide infield depth but is unlikely to play enough to provide fantasy value.
