  Chisholm went 2-for-3 with a home run, three total RBI and a stolen base in Wednesday's Grapefruit League victory against Philadelphia. Chisholm is slashing just .179/.273/.359 this spring, but he reminded Yankees fans (and fantasy managers) of his dynamic skill set with a two-run homer and a swipe of second base Wednesday. The 27-year-old posted career highs with 24 long balls and 40 thefts last season, and he will look to build upon those numbers in his first full campaign with New York in 2025. Chisholm is slated to be the Yankees' primary second baseman, and he's a candidate to bat leadoff for the team this year after hitting mostly in the middle of the order following his trade to New York last season.

  Chisholm went 2-for-3 with a two-run home run in Sunday's Grapefruit League loss to St. Louis. Chisholm had been struggling entering Sunday, going 2-for-19 through his first eight spring games. Part of his struggles have been due to strikeouts -- he's fanned eight times through nine games -- but Chisholm is also tied for second on the team with four walks. The versatile veteran is penciled in to start at second base for the Yankees this season, and he and catcher Austin Wells are the leading candidates to bat leadoff when the campaign kicks off.

  Yankees manager Aaron Boone said Tuesday in an interview on WFAN Sports Radio that he has Chisholm penciled in at second base this season. Chisholm played third base down the stretch this past season, but he's more familiar with second base and the Yankees have an opening there now with Gleyber Torres departing in free agency. Boone also mentioned Chisholm as a possible candidate to bat leadoff. DJ LeMahieu, Oswaldo Cabrera and Oswald Peraza are slated to compete for the third-base job, although it's possible the club will still bring in some help from outside the organization.

• Yankees' Jazz Chisholm: Reaches $5.85 million deal for 2025

  Chisholm agreed to a one-year, $5.85 million contract with the Yankees on Thursday to avoid arbitration, Robert Murray of FanSided.com reports. Chisholm lost his arbitration hearing with the Marlins for 2024 but was able to reach an agreement with the Yankees for the upcoming campaign. The 26-year-old primarily played third base after being acquired by New York but could be moved back to second base in 2025. Chisholm had 24 home runs, 40 stolen bases and a .761 OPS in a career-high 147 games during the regular season last year.

• Yankees' Jazz Chisholm: In cleanup spot again Wednesday

  Chisholm will start at third base and bat cleanup Wednesday in Game 5 of the World Series versus the Dodgers. Chisholm was moved up from the No. 5 spot to the No. 4 spot in the Yankees' Game 4 victory and manager Aaron Boone will keep him there for Game 5 after Chisholm reached twice and stole a base Tuesday. Giancarlo Stanton will hit fifth for the second straight contest.
