• Diamondbacks' Matt Beaty: Gets minors deal from Arizona

  The Diamondbacks signed Beaty to a minor-league contract on Tuesday. Beaty, 31, hasn't played anywhere in 2024 after slashing .230/.347/.295 in 30 games in 2023 between the Giants and Royals. He's been assigned to Double-A Amarillo, where he'll provide the organization with some veteran depth.

  The Royals sent Beaty outright to Triple-A Omaha on Thursday. Beaty was designated for assignment by the Royals on Monday, and he'll officially remain within the organization after clearing waivers. Beaty slashed .230/.347/.295 with four RBI across 72 plate appearances in the majors this season.

The lefty-hitting Beaty is on the bench for the third straight game, with two of those absences having come against right-handed starting pitchers.
