    Diaz signed with the Samsung Lions of the KBO on Thursday, Dan Kurtz of MyKBO.net reports. Most notably a prospect with the Twins late last decade who saw brief runs in the majors with the Marlins from 2020-22, Diaz spent 2024 playing in the Mexican League. He slashed .376/.452/.647 with 19 home runs in 75 games split between Piratas de Campeche and Diablos Rojos del Mexico.

    The Nationals released Diaz on Tuesday. The Nationals sent Diaz to minor-league camp earlier this spring, but the 27-year-old will now look for another opportunity elsewhere in free agency. He slashed .192/.222/.385 across 27 plate appearances during spring training and should be able to secure another minor-league deal.

    Diaz elected to become a free agent Tuesday, Rich Dubroff of BaltimoreBaseball.com reports. Diaz is a career .181/.227/.340 hitter in 343 plate appearances at the MLB level, but he posted a decent .804 OPS with 17 homers and 64 RBI over 118 games this past season with the Triple-A affiliate of the Orioles. The 26-year-old first baseman should be able to find a new organization this winter.
