  • Padres' Luis Patino: Shifts to 60-day IL
    By RotoWire

The Padres transferred Patino (elbow) from the 15-day injured list to the 60-day IL on Wednesday. Patino's move to the 60-day IL was fully expected at some point after he underwent Tommy John surgery April 30. With the right-hander expected to be sidelined until at least the middle of the 2025 season, he'll be a strong candidate to get non-tendered by the Padres this offseason.

  • Patino underwent Tommy John surgery on his right elbow Tuesday, Emily Waldon of Baseball America reports. Patino initially landed on the injured list during spring training due to right elbow inflammation, and he'll now be sidelined until midway through the 2025 season after undergoing Tommy John surgery. The 24-year-old right-hander owns a 5.02 ERA and 1.62 WHIP through 136.1 career big-league innings.

  • Padres' Luis Patino: Placed on injured list
    By RotoWire

The Padres placed Patino on the 15-day injured list Tuesday with right elbow inflammation. Patino made two appearances during spring training, surrendering five earned runs in just 2.1 innings of work. He'll spend at least the first two weeks of the season on the IL, and it's likely Patino is optioned to Triple-A El Paso once he's healthy.

  • Patino has reported to Padres' camp after being delayed by visa issues, Jeff Sanders of The San Diego Union-Tribune reports. Patino landed back in his original organization via waiver claim this offseason. It's not clear whether the Padres plan to stretch him out to start or if he's pegged for a relief role. The latter would certainly be the most expedient way to get him ready for Opening Day after the delay.

  • Patino isn't yet at Padres camp due to an issue with his visa, AJ Cassavell of MLB.com reports. Patino rejoined the Padres off waivers in December after spending the past three campaigns in the American League. It's not clear what his role with San Diego will be this season, though his experience as both a starter and middle reliever could be useful for what currently projects to be a thin rotation. The visa issue isn't likely to impact Patino's readiness for the start of the regular season.
