Margevicius signed a contract with the TSG Hawks of the Chinese Professional Baseball League in Taiwan on Monday. Margevicius held a 6.82 ERA between Double- and Triple-A in the Atlanta organization in 2023. The left-hander last saw action at the big-league level in 2021 with the Mariners.

Margevicius was released by the Mariners on Monday. Margevicius is coming back from thoracic outlet surgery and really struggled during a Cactus League appearance Sunday. The Mariners have decided to move on rather than let him attempt to figure things out. Margevicius holds a 6.12 ERA over parts of three seasons at the major-league level.

The Mariners designated Margevicius for assignment Thursday, Daniel Kramer of MLB.com reports. Margevicius' removal from the 40-man roster clears a spot for Danny Young, whose contract was selected from Triple-A Tacoma. After failing to break camp with the big club, Margevicius had been a member of the Tacoma rotation, posting a 12.75 ERA and 2.58 WHIP across 12 innings through four starts.

Margevicius was optioned to Triple-A Tacoma on Sunday. Margevicius underwent surgery for thoracic outlet syndrome last summer and won't make Seattle's Opening Day roster. The 25-year-old southpaw appeared in eight big-league games in 2021 and allowed 11 earned runs with a 12:7 K:BB over 12 innings. He should be in the mix for a call-up when the Mariners require a spot starter.
