Gillespie was sent back to Columbus after he served as the 27th man for Wednesday's doubleheader with the Diamondbacks, only to go unused in both ends of the twin bill. The Guardians have another doubleheader on tap Friday versus the Twins, but Joey Cantillo was called up from Triple-A to serve as the 27th man this time around.

The Guardians recalled Gillispie from Triple-A Columbus on Wednesday. Gillispie was optioned to Triple-A on Monday, but he'll be eligible to rejoin the Guardians two days later since Cleveland is designating him as its 27th man for Wednesday's doubleheader with the Diamondbacks. The right-handed reliever will presumably head back to Columbus once the twin bill is completed.
