Garcia cleared waivers and was outrighted to Triple-A Toledo on Thursday. Garcia was claimed off waivers by the Tigers in early September but won't remain on the 40-man roster through the offseason. He spent most of 2022 at the High-A level and had a .168/.319/.265 slash line in 45 games.

Garcia was claimed off waivers by the Tigers on Tuesday. Garcia was designated for assignment by the Phillies on Sunday. The 21-year-old middle infielder was a hot prospect after his success in rookie ball (162 wRC+) in 2018, but that was the peak of his dynasty-league value. He is fairly unaccomplished in the upper levels to be taking up a spot on a team's 40-man roster. The switch hitter has spent most of this season at High-A, where he logged a .168/.319/.265 slash line with three home runs and four steals in 45 games.

The Phillies designated Garcia for assignment Sunday. Though he was recently promoted to Double-A Reading, Garcia had endured a largely disappointing age-21 season at High-A Jersey Shore, where he slashed .168/.319/.265 over 193 plate appearances. Garcia's youth and pedigree -- he was signed for $2.5 million out of the Dominican Republic in July 2017 -- could be enticing enough for another organization to put in a waiver claim for him, even though he's not close to being major-league ready.

Garcia (hand) went 0-for-2 with a walk in his return to the lineup Wednesday for High-A Jersey Shore after being activated from the 7-day injured list. Garcia was cleared to rejoin the Jersey Shore lineup following a four-game rehab assignment with Single-A Clearwater. The 21-year-old infielder has logged 40 plate appearances with Jersey Shore this season, slashing .139/.225/.194.

Garcia is on the 7-day injured list at High-A Jersey Shore with a hamate injury, Kyle Glaser of Baseball America reports. He hasn't played since April 19 and had 13 strikeouts in his first nine games of the season. It doesn't sound like Garcia's season is in jeopardy, but he probably sustained a fracture given how much time he has missed.
