Shairon Martis: Playing independent ball
Shairon B. Martis signed a contract with the Lincoln Saltdogs of the independent American Association on Monday, Brandon Warne of ZoneCoverage.com reports.Martis spent the entire 2018 season with the Saltdogs, posting a 5.01 ERA and 1.403 WHIP across 41.1 innings. He hasn't pitched in the majors since notching a 5.59 ERA across 9.2 innings with the Twins in 2013.

Orioles' Shairon Martis: Lands MiLB deal with Baltimore
Shairon Martis signed a minor-league contract with the Baltimore Orioles on Wednesday, Matt Eddy of Baseball America reports.Martis spent the past couple seasons in the independent American Association, but he most recently put his talents on display for the Netherlands in the World Baseball Classic. His five solid relief appearances were evidently enough to warrant a minor-league deal, although he'll need to prove he can handle advanced hitters again after being away from affiliated baseball for a while.
