Braves' Ken Giles: Misses Opening Day roster
Atlanta reassigned Ken Giles to minor-league camp Friday.Giles was in camp as a non-roster invitee and allowed one run on one hit with five strikeouts and three walks in three innings across his three Grapefruit League appearances. The veteran right-hander has just nine big-league appearances since 2019 but has a strong track record and could receive a look later on with Atlanta if he can stay healthy.

Braves' Ken Giles: Dazzles in spring debut
Ken Giles struck out the side in a perfect third inning during Wednesday's Grapefruit League game against the Phillies. The veteran righty wasn't facing minor-league scrubs either -- Giles fired nine of 15 pitches for strikes while fanning Bryce Harper, Nick Castellanos and Alec Bohm. Giles is in camp as an NRI and has thrown only eight total MLB innings across the last three seasons, so he's a long shot to win a spot on the 26-man roster, but at one time he was an elite high-leverage reliever before a series of arm issues derailed his career. If Giles has regained something close to his old form, he could still have something to offer a big-league bullpen.

Braves' Ken Giles: Signs with Atlanta as NRI
Ken Giles signed a minor-league contract with Atlanta on Friday that includes an invitation to spring training.Giles held a showcase for teams last month and came out of it with a deal from Atlanta. The veteran reliever allowed 19 earned runs in 18 innings last season at Triple-A Oklahoma City and made just nine total appearances in the majors from 2020-22 due to injury. Still, the 33-year-old righty has 115 career saves and a 12.3 K/9 over 362 big-league relief appearances, and he carries little risk as a non-roster invitee.

Ken Giles: Holding showcase
Ken Giles will throw a bullpen session Friday for interested teams, Jon Heyman of the New York Post reports.Giles held a similar showcase last season and ended up securing a minor-league deal with the Dodgers shortly afterward. His performance at Triple-A Oklahoma City was rather uninspiring -- he surrendered 19 earned runs in 18 innings -- but perhaps the 33-year-old righty will show enough promise Friday for another club to take a flier on him.

Dodgers' Ken Giles: Signs MiLB deal with LAD
The Los Angeles Dodgers signed Ken Giles to a minor-league contract Saturday, Jon Heyman of the New York Post reports.Giles held a showcase May 11 for teams, and the Dodgers must have liked what they saw enough to give the right-hander a chance. Giles is not far removed from being one of the best closers in baseball, but he's missed significant time over the past few seasons due to a variety of arm injuries. Los Angeles will have to add Giles to the 40-man roster in order to have him join the club, but if he pitches well in the minors he could be an option for the Dodgers this summer.

Ken Giles: To hold showcase
Ken Giles will throw live batting practice Friday for interested teams, Jon Heyman of the New York Post reports.Giles staged multiple free-agent showcases during the winter and spring, but those workouts apparently didn't yield any offers to his liking. After spending the last five weeks working at Driveline in Phoenix, the 32-year-old reliever will attempt again to attract MLB interest. He's pitched sparingly over the last three years due to a range of arm injuries but is said to be fully healthy.

Ken Giles: To hold showcase Friday
Ken Giles will hold a showcase for teams Friday at Arizona State University, Jon Heyman of the New York Post reports.Giles did the same thing in early February and nothing came of it, but maybe he's throwing with more juice here in mid-March. The 32-year-old right-hander has logged only eight major-league innings since the beginning of the 2020 season because of various upper and lower arm injuries, though he's said to be fully healthy now.

Ken Giles: Ready to audition
Ken Giles will throw for teams Feb. 8, Jon Heyman of the New York Post reports. The workout will take place at Arizona State University. A former closer, Giles has made just nine appearances over the last two years because of injuries -- including Tommy John surgery on his right elbow -- but Heyman reports that the right-hander is said to be "100 percent healthy." A good showing at the workout could see him brought in by a team needing relief help, but it's unlikely it would come in a role that would provide fantasy relevance.

Ken Giles: Let go by Giants
The Giants released Ken Giles on Monday. His stint in the Giants organization lasted just one week, with Giles receiving his release after allowing one earned run on two hits and two walks while striking out two over 2.2 innings across his three appearances at Triple-A Sacramento. Giles will now look to move on to his third organization of the season, as he was previously cut loose by Seattle earlier this month.

Giants' Ken Giles: Lands MiLB deal with Giants
Ken Giles agreed Monday with the San Francisco Giants on a minor-league contract, Alex Pavlovic of NBC Sports Bay Area reports.Giles elected free agency Aug. 14 after he was designated for assignment by the Mariners, but he has now quickly found a new opportunity with the Giants. The 31-year-old appeared in five games for Seattle this season, tossing 4.1 scoreless innings, allowing one hit and four walks while striking out six. Those numbers are a little misleading though, as he surrendered 13 runs over 12.1 frames during his minor-league rehab assignment. Giles will likely find himself elevated to the Giants bullpen at some point down the stretch.
