Cubs' Owen Caissie: Expected to get regular reps

The Chicago Cubs are currently projecting regular playing time for Owen Caissie next season, Patrick Mooney of The Athletic reports. The club would also like to give Moises Ballesteros a chance to play regularly, though one of Caissie, Ballesteros and Seiya Suzuki will have to sit out most days. Caissie has nothing left to prove at Triple-A Iowa, having slashed .281/.380/.507 there over the last two seasons. He struggled in a cup of coffee with the Cubs, going 5-for-26 with 11 strikeouts, but is viewed as the team's top prospect.

Cubs' Owen Caissie: Cleared from concussion

Owen Caissie was deemed free of concussion symptoms and resumed taking part in baseball activities earlier this month, MLB.com reports.Though the Chicago Cubs didn't activate him for the wild-card series win over the Padres nor their NLDS loss to the Brewers, Caissie appears to have made a full recovery from the concussion that landed him on the 7-day injured list Sept. 14. The 23-year-old outfielder -- who hit .192 with one home run in 12 games this season in his first taste of the big leagues -- should be in line for a normal offseason. He'll compete for a spot on the Cubs' Opening Day roster in spring training, though Caissie's chances of beginning the 2026 campaign in an everyday role with the big club could be determined by whether Chicago re-signs Kyle Tucker or brings aboard another high-profile corner outfielder or designated hitter over the winter.

Cubs' Owen Caissie: Hits shelf with concussion

The Chicago Cubs placed Owen Caissie (concussion) on the 7-day injured list Sunday.Just one day after being recalled from Triple-A Iowa, Caissie will be deactivated after he sustained a concussion when he collided with the outfield wall on a catch in the third inning of Saturday's 5-4 loss to the Rays. Chicago recalled Kevin Alcantara from Iowa to provide the team with another option in the outfield while Seiya Suzuki (illness) is day-to-day and Kyle Tucker (calf) is on the 10-day IL.

Cubs' Owen Caissie: Injures head Saturday

Owen Caissie was removed from Saturday's game against the Rays due to concussion symptoms, Jared Wyllys of AllCHGO.com reports.Caissie's head collided with the outfield wall while he made a catch in the third inning, and manager Craig Counsell said the outfielder's condition only declined after that point. He'll enter concussion protocol and could soon be headed to the 7-day injured list, which would presumably open up playing time in the outfield for Willi Castro.

The Chicago Cubs are expected to option Owen Caissie to Triple-A Iowa on Monday, Jesse Rogers of ESPN.com reports. After being called up from Triple-A on Aug. 14, Caissie struggled to carve out a regular role in the Chicago outfield and slashed just .208/.240/.375 through his first 25 big-league plate appearances. Cubs' Owen Caissie: Hitting bench in Tucker's return

Owen Caissie is out of the lineup for Thursday's game against the Brewers. The rookie will hit the bench for the series finale after he picked up starts in the corner outfield in the first four contests of the five-game set, going 4-for-11 with one home run, one walk, four RBI and three runs. The last three of Caissie's starts came while the slumping Kyle Tucker received an extended break, but Tucker will make his return to the lineup Thursday. Tucker, Ian Happ, Seiya Suzuki and Pete Crow-Armstrong should continue to handle everyday roles between the outfield and the designated-hitter spot moving forward, but manager Craig Counsell could opt to give any of those players a day or two off per week in order to open up semi-regular playing time for Caissie.

Cubs' Owen Caissie: Blasts first MLB home run

Owen Caissie went 3-for-6 with a home run, two total runs scored and four RBI across both games of Tuesday's doubleheader against the Brewers.A day after recording his first MLB hit, Caissie smashed his first MLB home run in Tuesday's first game, then scored and drove in another run in the nightcap before getting lifted for a pinch hitter. The young outfielder is starting to display his offensive upside after going hitless in his first five at-bats in the majors. It remains to be seen how much playing time Caissie will be able to earn the rest of the way as part of a deep Chicago roster, but when he's in the lineup, the 23-year-old offers immense potential to fantasy managers.

Cubs' Owen Caissie: Collects first MLB hit

Owen Caissie went 1-for-3 with a single in a 7-0 loss to the Brewers in the first game of Monday's doubleheader. The Chicago Cubs only had two hits as a team in the lopsided loss, but one of them was memorable, as it was the first hit at the MLB level for Caissie. The 23-year-old is now 1-for-8 since getting promoted to the majors on Thursday. While the youngster has plenty of talent, he's yet to grab an everyday role in a crowded Chicago outfield, which limits Caissie's fantasy upside for the time being.
