MacKenzie Gore came away with a no-decision in the second game of Tuesday's doubleheader against Atlanta, allowing two hits and three walks over 5.1 scoreless innings. He struck out five.Matched up against fellow left-handed ace Chris Sale, Gore rose to the occasion, tossing 56 of 92 pitches for strikes before leaving the mound in a 0-0 tie that wasn't decided until the 10th inning. He'll look for his first win since Aug. 10 in his final start of 2025, a rematch with Atlanta on the road early next week.

Nationals' MacKenzie Gore: Activated ahead of Thursday's start
The Washington Nationals activated MacKenzie Gore (shoulder) from the 15-day injured list Thursday.Gore will rejoin the Nationals' rotation Thursday against the Marlins after missing the last two weeks of action with left shoulder inflammation. The southpaw did not make a rehab start, and it doesn't appear he faced live hitters while on the IL, either, settling for just a couple bullpen sessions. That means Gore could have a relatively abbreviated workload versus the Marlins.

Nationals' MacKenzie Gore: Optimistic about 2025 return
MacKenzie Gore (shoulder) intends to pitch again this season, Jessica Camerato of MLB.com reports. The left-hander landed on the injured list Saturday with what the Washington Nationals described as shoulder inflammation, but the issue doesn't appear to be serious. "It's something, the way it felt last start, where we needed to get an MRI," Gore said Saturday. "Nothing crazy showed up with significant injury. I didn't want to go on the IL, but we kind of needed to. I plan on being back as soon as I can, but we just need to clean up a few things in there and should be alright." With Washington having nothing to play for this season however, it wouldn't be a big surprise if Gore was shut down out of caution should he have any sort of hiccup once he begins throwing again. Over 27 starts and 147.1 innings this year, the 26-year-old has a 4.15 ERA, 1.34 WHIP and 173:55 K:BB.
