Luis Castillo cleared waivers and was outrighted to Triple-A Toledo on Thursday.Castillo appeared in three games for the Detroit Tigers in 2022, so it's not a major surprise he won't remain on the 40-man roster through the offseason. Luis Castillo was optioned to Triple-A Toledo on Thursday.Castillo will head back to the minors after being called up Sunday and delivering 1.2 scoreless innings Monday against the Angels. The 27-year-old righty has been dominant at Triple-A Toledo this season with a 1.79 ERA and 1.20 WHIP and has 38 strikeouts over 40.1 innings out of the bullpen.

Luis Castillo was recalled from Triple-A Toledo on Sunday, Cody Stavenhagen of The Athletic reports.Castillo has been dominant in the minors this year, posting a 1.79 ERA and 1.20 WHIP in 40.1 innings over 39 appearances at Toledo. He's tossed two scoreless innings in the majors and will rejoin the Detroit Tigers' bullpen after Michael Pineda was designated for assignment Sunday.
