Marlins' Adam Mazur: Heads to Miami in six-play trade

Adam Mazur was traded from the Padres to the Miami Marlins on Tuesday along with Robby Snelling, Graham Pauley and Jay Beshears in exchange for Tanner Scott and Bryan Hoeing, Jeff Passan of ESPN.com reports.Mazur's minor-league body of work was pretty stellar (2.37 FIP at Double-A in 2024, 3.01 FIP at Double-A in 2023) before he reached the Pacific Coast League and the majors this season. In five Triple-A starts, Mazur has a 7.83 ERA and 1.48 WHIP, which is similar to his 7.49 ERA and 1.81 WHIP in eight big-league starts. He will likely head to Triple-A Jacksonville for the time being, but Mazur should get plenty of chances to carve out a spot in Miami's rotation in the coming years.

Padres' Adam Mazur: Dispatched to Triple-A

The San Diego Padres optioned Adam Mazur to Triple-A El Paso on Saturday.Mazur only lasted 2.2 innings during his start Friday against Baltimore, allowing one earned run on two hits and two walks in the process. The Padres won't need to use a fifth starter for another two weeks, so they'll send down the struggling right-hander in favor of Alek Jacob, who will provide the bullpen with another fresh arm.

Padres' Adam Mazur: Tosses only 2.2 frames Friday

Adam Mazur allowed one run on two hits and two walks while striking out one batter over 2.2 innings in a no-decision against Baltimore on Friday.Mazur was called up from Triple-A prior to the contest to make his first big-league appearance since July 9. The rookie walked two batters in the first inning but emerged unscathed on the scoreboard, though he gave up a solo homer to Jordan Westburg in the second and a double to Gunnar Henderson in the third before being pulled with two outs. Mazur tossed only 39 pitches overall in the outing, but that appeared to be due to a short leash rather than any sort of injury. The right-hander has pitched to a poor 7.49 ERA and 1.81 WHIP through eight starts, but he may need to stick in the rotation until Yu Darvish (personal) or Joe Musgrove (elbow) is ready to return.

Padres' Adam Mazur: Officially called up

The San Diego Padres recalled Adam Mazur from Triple-A El Paso to start Friday's game against the Orioles.Mazur is set for his eighth big-league start Friday and is back with the Padres for the first time since July 10. With Joe Musgrove (elbow) and Yu Darvish (elbow/personal) on the shelf, San Diego has been searching for a reliable fifth starter, a role Mazur could fill if he performs well Friday. However, Mazur has tallied a 7.84 ERA in 31.0 innings this season.

Padres' Adam Mazur: Starting on Friday

Adam Mazur will be recalled from Triple-A El Paso to start Friday's game in Baltimore, Dennis Lin of The Athletic reports.Mazur was sent down to the minors prior to the All-Star break following a stretch in which he posted a 9.36 ERA and 2.04 WHIP across 25 innings covering six starts. He will be getting another opportunity as the San Diego Padres struggle to find arms while awaiting the returns of Joe Musgrove (elbow) and Yu Darvish (elbow/personal) from the injured list and restricted list, respectively.

Padres' Adam Mazur: Sent to Triple-A

The San Diego Padres optioned Adam Mazur to Triple-A El Paso on Wednesday.Mazur had a solid MLB debut against the Angels on June 4, allowing one run in six innings. Things quickly went downhill for him, however, as he posted a 9.36 ERA and 2.04 WHIP across 25 innings over his next six starts. He'll now return to the minors in order to right the ship, though he hasn't found much success at the Triple-A level either (7.11 ERA in 19 innings). Logan Gillaspie was recalled from El Paso in a corresponding move.

Padres' Adam Mazur: Another rough outing Tuesday

Adam Mazur (1-3) took the loss Tuesday against the Mariners, allowing five runs on seven hits and two walks while striking out six over 4.2 innings. The six strikeouts were a career best for Mazur over his first seven major-league starts, but it was his fourth time giving up four or more runs, and he failed to reach five innings for the fifth time. The Mariners strung together a pair of runs against Mazur in the first two innings before opening up the game with homers in the third and fifth to make it a 5-0 ballgame. The 23-year-old now owns a 7.84 ERA, 1.84 WHIP and 21:19 K:BB in 31 innings. It's unclear if his next start will be in the majors or down in Triple-A, but it will come after the All-Star break.

Padres' Adam Mazur: Struggles in no-decision

Adam Mazur allowed four runs on seven hits and struck out four without walking a batter over four innings, taking a no-decision versus the Rangers on Wednesday. While it's a positive that he issued zero walks, Mazur still had too much traffic on the basepaths to deal with. He threw just 46 of 74 pitches for strikes. This was the fourth time in six outings that he's failed to complete five innings. Mazur has a 7.52 ERA, 1.82 WHIP and 15:17 K:BB through 26.1 innings as he continues to struggle during his first stint in the majors. With two off days next week, the San Diego Padres could get by with a four-man rotation up to the All-Star break, so it's no guarantee Mazur will stay on the 26-man roster this month.

Padres' Adam Mazur: Earns first career win

Adam Mazur (1-2) allowed four runs on six hits and a walk while failing to record a strikeout over five innings, but he earned the win Tuesday over the Nationals.Washington did all of its damage in the third inning, which was punctuated by a two-run home run by Jesse Winker. Mazur was able to rebound over two more frames, and the San Diego Padres' offense pulled ahead for good in the fifth. The right-hander's first major-league win wasn't pretty, but that's been typical for the 23-year-old as he tries to find his footing with the Padres. He's at a 7.25 ERA, 1.84 WHIP and 11:17 K:BB over 22.1 innings through five starts. He'll likely head back to Triple-A El Paso once Yu Darvish (groin/elbow) is cleared to return, which could happen next week but is far from a guarantee.

Padres' Adam Mazur: Recalled, starting Tuesday

The San Diego Padres recalled Adam Mazur from Triple-A El Paso on Monday.Mazur looked to be on his way out of the San Diego rotation after being optioned to Triple-A after he was lit up for three runs over 4.2 innings in a no-decision this past Friday against the Brewers, but he'll get at least one more start while Yu Darvish's (groin) return from the 15-day injured list will be delayed due to right elbow inflammation, per Dennis Lin of The Athletic. Over his four starts with San Diego this season, the rookie has gone 0-2 with a 7.27 ERA, 1.96 WHIP and 11:16 K:BB in 17.1 innings, numbers that make him an untrustworthy fantasy option.
