Rays' Ryan Pepiot: Takes loss in short outing

Ryan Pepiot (11-11) allowed four runs on four hits and three walks over 1.2 innings Tuesday, striking out three and taking a loss against the Blue Jays.Pepiot missed his last scheduled start due to fatigue and clearly didn't have his best stuff Tuesday. On a positive note, his fastball sat at 95.5 mph, up slightly from his season average of 95.1 mph. Pepiot entered Tuesday on a 15-inning scoreless streak, but he hasn't produced a quality start since July 27. He's currently projected to face the Red Sox at home this weekend.

Rays' Ryan Pepiot: Cleared to start Tuesday

Ryan Pepiot (general fatigue) will return to the Tampa Bay rotation to start Tuesday's game against the Blue Jays at Steinbrenner Field, Marc Topkin of the Tampa Bay Times reports. The Tampa Bay Rays opted to scratch Pepiot ahead of his previous turn through the rotation this past Wednesday while he dealt with general body fatigue, a likely byproduct of him having already covered a career-high 163 innings on the season. The extra time off seemingly provided a necessary reset for Pepiot, who will re-enter the rotation this week after he said he felt "back to normal" following a bullpen session Saturday of about 10-to-15 pitches, per MLB.com. Though Pepiot shouldn't face any major workload restrictions Tuesday, the Rays aren't likely to let him push past the 100-pitch mark, which he's cleared just three times through his first 29 starts.

Rays' Ryan Pepiot: Battling fatigue, will miss start

Ryan Pepiot was scratched from his scheduled start Wednesday against the White Sox due to fatigue, Ryan Bass of FanDuel Sports Network Sun reports.Pepiot has gone three consecutive starts (15 innings) without giving up an earned run and has conceded just two hits and six walks while striking out 15 batters in that span. He'll need at least a few days before he takes the mound again, however, and the Tampa Bay Rays haven't specified how much extra rest he will require. Tampa Bay will instead lean on its bullpen Wednesday and send out Griffin Jax to record the first few outs.

Rays' Ryan Pepiot: Has workload limited

Ryan Pepiot (9-10) picked up the win Sunday against St. Louis, allowing one hit and one walk across five scoreless innings. He struck out three.Pepiot had no issues with the Cardinals' lineup, allowing just two baserunners in five innings of work. Surprisingly, he was pulled after five innings and 63 pitches. An injury hasn't been reported, so it seems as though the Tampa Bay Rays are limiting his innings in the closing stages of the regular season. Pepiot has thrown a career-high 153 innings in 2025, topping his previous high of 130 innings set last season. The 28-year-old hadn't thrown fewer than 84 pitches in an appearance since June 27. He had allowed 17 runs across four starts spanning 21.2 innings before Sunday's outing. Pepiot is lined up to face the Nationals next weekend.

Rays' Ryan Pepiot: Saddled with 10th loss

Ryan Pepiot (8-10) took the loss Sunday at San Francisco, coughing up four runs on six hits and two walks over 5.2 innings. He struck out eight. The 28-year-old generated an impressive 17 whiffs out of his 93 total pitches but unraveled late in this outing. After blanking the Giants over five innings, Pepiot conceded four runs on four hits and a walk in the sixth. The Tampa Bay right-hander has struggled since the All-Star break, posting a 5.88 ERA, 1.31 WHIP and 36:14 K:BB across 33.2 frames. Pepiot may be wearing down, as he's pitched a career-high 142.1 total innings, which could cause the Tampa Bay Rays to seek respite for him down the stretch. He is currently scheduled to make his next start at home against St. Louis next weekend.

Rays' Ryan Pepiot: Picks up eighth victory

Ryan Pepiot (8-9) earned the win over the Athletics on Monday, allowing four runs on five hits and two walks while striking out four batters over 6.1 innings.Pepiot cruised through four scoreless frames before giving up a solo homer to Shea Langeliers in the fifth. The veteran hurler pitched into the seventh, but his final line was spoiled a bit when the final batter he faced -- Tyler Soderstrom -- tagged him for a three-run homer. Nonetheless, Pepiot got enough run support to end up with the victory, and this was the deepest he has pitched since he tossed eight frames against Baltimore on June 16. The right-hander's next start is slated to be against the Tampa Bay Rays this weekend.
