Smith notched 14 points (5-9 FG, 0-2 3Pt, 4-6 FT), nine rebounds, four assists and a steal across 17 minutes in Friday's 139-137 preseason win over the Cavaliers.
The starters played over 25 minutes, except Patrick Williams, who left the game with an ankle injury. Smith was undoubtedly one of the most productive players in the second unit. That's the role he'll have once the regular season begins Wednesday against the Pelicans, and he's expected to open the campaign as Nikola Vucevic's primary backup at center.
