Birch signed a one-year contract with French club Basquet Girona on Feb. 5.
After spending the past six seasons in the NBA, Birch had been out of work since October, when the Spurs cut him toward the end of the preseason. The 31-year-old center's time in basketball's top league could well be over at this point, but Birch is still young enough to enjoy some productive seasons overseas.
