McLaughlin sustained a Grade 2 right ankle sprain during offseason workouts and will be re-evaluated in two weeks, James Ham of ESPN 1320 Sacramento reports.
Fresh off inking a one-year deal over the summer, McLaughlin's start to the season will not be what he had in mind. When healthy, he is expected to compete with Keon Ellis for the backup point guard role behind De'Aaron Fox. The 28-year-old McLaughlin shot a career-best 47.2 percent from three-point range across 56 regular-season games in Minnesota last season to go along with 3.5 points and 1.3 rebounds across 11.2 minutes.
