Lakers' Anthony Davis: Dealing with back spasms
Lakers head coach Darvin Ham said Davis experienced hip and back spasms after landing awkwardly on the court in the second half of Sunday's 124-108 win over the Pelicans, Dave McMenamin of ESPN.com reports. Davis finished with 30 points (13-17 FG, 0-1 3Pt, 4-4 FT), 11 rebounds, three assists and two steals across 33 minutes.
Davis headed to the locker room during the win and left the game for good with 5:22 remaining in the fourth quarter, when the Lakers held a 21-point lead. Given the Lakers' big advantage, Davis' early removal might have been more of a byproduct of the blowout than the injury, and Ham relayed that he's "extremely optimistic" regarding the big man's availability for Tuesday's rematch with the Pelicans in the Western Conference Play-In Tournament, according to Mike Trudell of Spectrum SportsNet.
