Coach Steve Kerr said Saturday that he expects Davis (illness) to play in Sunday's Olympic matchup versus Serbia, BasketNews.com reports.
After missing several practices for Team USA throughout the week, Davis is expected to play in the squad's opening game of the group phase. The 31-year-old will likely fight for playing time with Bam Adebayo behind Joel Embiid, although Kerr could switch up the rotation and opt to pair Embiid and Davis together in the frontcourt. Davis is coming off a great season during which he played a career-high 76 regular-season games and averaged 24.7 points, 12.6 rebounds, 3.5 assists and 2.3 blocks.
