The Lakers are planning to sign Collison to a 10-day hardship contract and are hopeful he'll be available for Saturday's Christmas Day game against Brooklyn, Adrian Wojnarowski of ESPN reports.
Collison initially announced his retirement following the 2018-2019 campaign and will be making a comeback to the NBA. The 34-year-old guard considered a return during the 2019-20 season and was speculated to be signing with either the Lakers or the Clippers but it never came to fruition. The Lakers currently have five players in protocols along with an additional two that're injured. They'll now bring in Collison to provide them with some added depth in the backcourt for the next 10 days.
