Exum is expected to miss three months after undergoing surgery on his right wrist Wednesday, Shams Charania of ESPN reports.
Exum sustained the injury in training camp last week and doesn't look like he'll be ready to contribute until at least January after having surgery. After a two-year stop overseas, Exum returned stateside for the 2023-24 campaign and proved to be a useful complementary piece for the Mavericks, averaging 7.8 points, 2.9 assists and 2.7 rebounds over 19.8 minutes while shooting 53.3 percent from the field in 55 appearances. His absence for the first few months of the season could open up more playing time off the bench for Spencer Dinwiddie, Jaden Hardy and/or Quentin Grimes.
