Burton became a free agent Thursday after his second 10-day contract with the Grizzlies expired, Keith Smith of Spotrac.com reports.

If Memphis is interested in retaining Burton, the team will need to re-sign him to a rest-of-season deal, which would likely be finalized ahead of its next game Friday versus the Raptors. Since signing his initial 10-day deal March 12, the 26-year-old forward has appeared in each of the Grizzlies' ensuing 12 games and has shot 37.5 percent from the field and 33.3 percent from downtown while averaging 10.8 points, 4.2 rebounds, 1.8 three-pointers, 1.0 assists and 0.9 steals in 25.5 minutes.
