Our weekly Fantasy Basketball Planner is the essential guide to setting your lineup for the upcoming scoring period. Every week, we provide you with news and notes for each team, tracking hot and cold players, injuries and rotation changes.
Atlanta Hawks
Schedule: MIL, @TOR, HOU
Good
Plays: Al Horford, Josh Smith, Joe Johnson
Bad
Plays: Marvin Williams, Jeff Teague, Jordan Crawford, Maurice Evans
Toss Ups: Jamal Crawford,
Mike Bibby
Injury Report: Marvin Williams (back/out until at least Jan. 10)
Notes: The
Hawks face two high-volume matchups in Week 12. The Raptors allow 104.6
points per game while the Rockets allow 104.5. ... Johnson's elbow
appears to be just fine. He has scored 28 or more points in three
straight games entering the weekend. ... Crawford has scored at least 24
points in four straight and appears to be a good play even with Johnson
scoring at a high clip. ... Williams is not traveling with the team and
remains too risky to consider for Week 12. ... Bibby could be worth
taking a gamble on in deeper leagues given the matchups, but he is
averaging just 8-4-4 over his last five.
Boston Celtics
Schedule: HOU, SAC, CHA
Good
Plays: Paul Pierce, Rajon Rondo, Ray Allen
Bad Plays: Kevin Garnett, Kendrick Perkins, Shaquille O'Neal, Jermaine O'Neal, Nate Robinson, Delonte West, Marquis Daniels
Toss Ups: Glen Davis
Injury
Report: Kevin Garnett
(calf/mid-January), Kendrick Perkins
(knee/mid-January), Delonte West (wrist/mid-January)
Notes: The
Celtics face two teams (Houston, Sacramento) in Week 12 that allow over
101 points per game. Charlotte, an above-average defensive team under
Larry Brown, has adopted an up-tempo style under Paul Silas that should
also lead to an open game. ... Celtics president Danny Ainge is
optimistic that K.G. can return before the team's road trip that begins
on Jan. 22, but he remains highly unlikely to play in Week 12. ... With
Garnett sidelined, Davis continues to see big minutes and is getting
around 15-plus shots in the offense. His rebounding has left much to be
desired, but he remains a good low-end play in standard leagues. ...
Perkins practiced for the first time on Jan. 4. He hopes to return some
time in mid-January, but still has several hurdles to clear before
possibly being useful again in Fantasy. ... The two O'Neals (Shaquille
and Jermaine) have just about canceled out each other's Fantasy appeal
lately.
Charlotte Bobcats
Schedule: MEM, CHI, @BOS, NO
Good
Plays: No must-starts
Bad Plays: Nazr Mohammed, Kwame Brown, Shaun Livingston, Gerald Henderson
Toss
Ups: Stephen Jackson, Gerald Wallace, D.J. Augustin, Boris Diaw, Tyrus Thomas
Injury
Report: Stephen Jackson
(knee/day-to-day), Gerald Wallace
(ankle/mid-January), Nazr Mohammed
(knee/day-to-day), DeSagana Diop
(Achilles'/out for the season)
Notes: Since coach Paul Silas
took over on Dec. 22, the Bobcats have averaged 98.2 points per game and
have scored 100-plus points in three of five games as the team has
pushed the tempo. ... Under Silas, Augustin is averaging 19.8 points,
5.4 assists and 2.4 rebounds. ... Jackson is averaging 26.3 points, 4.3
assists and 5.8 rebounds under Silas, but had to have fluid drained from
his knee and was held out on Wednesday after hyperextending it in
Monday's game. He should return shortly, but will have to be monitored
over the weekend. ... Wallace was ruled out by Silas for "a few games"
on Monday. He could be back in Week 12 and would be a great play as
usual, but he'll have to be monitored. ... With Wallace sidelined,
Thomas attempted 32 shots in two games. He scored 21 points with 11
rebounds at Minnesota on Jan. 5 and makes for a great handcuff for
Wallace owners. His numbers stand to take a hit once Wallace returns,
however. ... Diaw posted a 16-7-4 stat line against Minnesota on Jan. 5,
but that came with no Jackson or Wallace. He remains a very low-end
play. ... Starting in place of Mohammed, Brown brought down 14 rebounds
to go with eight points on Jan. 5. If Mohammed remains sidelined through
Week 12, Kwame could be a decent sleeper at center in deeper leagues.
Chicago Bulls
Schedule: DET, @CHA, @IND, MIA
Good
Plays: Derrick Rose, Carlos Boozer, Luol Deng
Bad
Plays: Kyle Korver, Ronnie Brewer, Omer Asik, C.J. Watson, Keith Bogans
Toss
Ups: Taj Gibson, Kurt Thomas
Injury Report: Joakim Noah (thumb/February)
Notes: Gibson has admitted
feeling lingering effects from a concussion suffered on Dec. 18. His
production has been very inconsistent since. Barring a huge weekend, he
remains merely a low-end play for now. ... In nine starts, Thomas has
averaged just 5.1 points and 6.9 rebounds. His minutes and touches
should only decrease as Gibson gets back into a rhythm.

Cleveland Cavaliers
Schedule: @LAL, @UTA, @DEN
Good
Plays: Antawn Jamison, Mo Williams
Bad Plays: J.J. Hickson, Anthony Parker, Jamario Moon
Toss Ups: Anderson Varejao,
Daniel Gibson, Ramon Sessions
Injury Report: Daniel Gibson (ankle/day-to-day), Anthony Parker
(back/day-to-day), Leon Powe
(knee/day-to-day), Joey Graham
(quadriceps/day-to-day)
Notes: Varejao did not look
comfortable playing with a mask after returning from a cheek
injury on Jan. 5. If it continues to affect his production over the
weekend, reserve him. ... Varejao's return turned into DNP-CD for
Hickson, who had been playing well with Varejao sidelined. Hickson was
benched and fined for missing practice on Monday, but his playing time
figures to be limited going forward. ... Gibson returned from a thigh
injury on Jan. 5 only to leave that game with an ankle injury. He played
on, but is banged up entering the weekend. Consider healthy alternatives
where possible. ... Sessions entered the weekend averaging 16.4 points,
6.2 assists and 5.2 rebounds over his last five games. Gibson's return
could impact his surge, but he did post a 16-6-5 stat line on Jan. 5
even with Gibson back in the mix. At the very least, Sessions is worth
swiping up off the waiver wire where available.
Dallas Mavericks
Schedule: @IND, @SA, @MEM
Good
Plays: Jason Kidd, Jason Terry
Bad Plays: Brendan Haywood, Jose Juan Barea, Dominique Jones
Toss Ups: Dirk Nowitzki,
Shawn Marion, DeShawn Stevenson, Tyson Chandler
Injury
Report: Dirk Nowitzki (knee/out
indefinitely), Roddy Beaubois
(foot/February), Caron Butler (knee/out
for the season)
Notes: Nowitzki was ruled out for a sixth
consecutive game on Thursday night. He said last weekend that he "hoped"
to get back at some point within the next week and may return over the
weekend, but he looks like a tough call at best for Week 12. Be prepared
to go without him again. ... Butler was lost for the season after
undergoing surgery to repair a ruptured right patellar tendon. His
absence should allow the likes of Marion, Stevenson and even Jones to
see a boost. Marion and Stevenson appear to be nice sleepers in larger
leagues in the short term. ... Chandler is rolling again, picking up
three straight double-doubles entering the weekend. Get him active again
where possible.
Denver Nuggets
Schedule: PHO, MIA, CLE, @SA
Good
Plays: Carmelo Anthony, Nene,
Chauncey Billups
Bad Plays: Al Harrington, Ty Lawson, Kenyon Martin, Chris Andersen, Shelden Williams, Gary Forbes
Toss
Ups: J.R. Smith, Arron Afflalo
Injury Report: Kenyon Martin (knee/day-to-day), J.R. Smith
(toe/day-to-day), Ty Lawson
(knee/day-to-day)
Notes: A sprained big toe has begun to cut
into Smith's production. He shot 3 for 15 over two games entering the
weekend. Barring a resurgence, he is a player we recommend avoiding. ...
Afflalo is averaging 11.4 points, 3.4 rebounds and 2.2 assists over his
last five games. Leave him for deeper leagues. ... Martin is being held
out of games in back-to-back sets. They will have another in Week 12.
Detroit Pistons
Schedule: @CHI, MEM, @TOR, SAC
Good
Plays: No must-starts
Bad Plays: Ben Wallace, Greg Monroe, Will Bynum, Austin Daye, Chris Wilcox
Toss Ups: Rodney Stuckey, Tayshaun Prince, Charlie Villanueva, Ben Gordon, Richard Hamilton, Tracy McGrady
Injury
Report: Chris Wilcox
(hamstring/day-to-day), Jonas Jerebko
(Achilles'/out indefinitely)
Notes: The Pistons will play a
Raptors team that allows 104.6 points per game and Kings team that
allows 101.3 points. ... Stuckey is dealing with a stomach virus that
has taken away a lot of his strength and stamina. He has not had a
productive game since Dec. 26, but should be on the back end of the bug.
If he shows any signs of returning to full strength, he will be worth
activating given the matchups. ... With Stuckey under the weather,
McGrady has become a relevant Fantasy option. We aren't sold just yet
that he can do this once Stuckey gets back, but he is worth adding --
just in case. ... Prince is surging again, averaging 17.0 points over
his last five. He makes for a decent sleeper in larger formats this week
thanks to a favorable slate of games. ... Villanueva is averaging 12.8
points and 3.6 rebounds, but could be counted on in deeper leagues this
week in a pinch. ... Gordon has the hot hand over Hamilton of late. He
is averaging a 13-2-4 line over his last five games and has some stopgap
appeal this week. Hamilton is more of a shot in the dark right now.
Golden State Warriors
Schedule: LAL, LAC
Good
Plays: Monta Ellis, Stephen Curry
Bad Plays: Andris Biedrins, Reggie Williams,
Vladimir Radmanovic, Ekpe Udoh
Toss Ups: David Lee,
Dorell Wright
Injury Report: No
significant injuries.
Notes: The Warriors are one of four
teams to play only two games this week. ... Lee is banged up, dealing
with a back issue now to go with his on-going elbow problem and a
variety of bumps and bruises. With just two games and underwhelming
stats in recent games, he is a candidate to be reserved depending upon
your alternatives. ... Wright is averaging 21.8 points and 5.6 rebounds
over his last five games with premium 3-point shooting. The only thing
that would make him worth reserving this week is his schedule if you are
in a cumulative format. ... Biedrins did not look 100 percent in a
restricted return from an ankle injury on Jan. 5. We suggest healthier
alternatives.
Houston Rockets
Schedule: @BOS, OKC, NO, @ATL
Good
Plays: Luis Scola, Kevin Martin
Bad Plays: Brad Miller,
Chase Budinger, Courtney Lee, Terrence Williams, Jordan Hill, Patrick Patterson, Chuck Hayes
Toss Ups: Aaron Brooks,
Kyle Lowry, Shane Battier
Injury Report: Aaron Brooks (ankle/day-to-day), Chuck Hayes
(ankle/mid-January), Yao Ming (ankle/out
for the season)
Notes: Brooks re-aggravated his ankle injury
on Jan. 3 against Denver. He is currently considered day-to-day, but we
expect the Rockets to take a very cautious approach. Prepare healthy
alternatives for Week 12. Since his return, Brooks had been brought
along slowly and was not being asked to play big minutes, so this only
sets him back in that regard. ... Lowry is likely looking at another
week of big minutes given Brooks' setback. He remains a quality low-end
starter as a decent source for assists. He is averaging 11.4 points, 7.2
assists and 4.1 rebounds as a starter this season. ... Battier is
averaging just 6.0 points, 3.2 rebounds and 2.2 assists over his last
five games. He can spread it around for category league owners, but he's
hurting owners too much in the big three categories right now.
Indiana Pacers
Schedule: @PHI, DAL, CHI
Good
Plays: Danny Granger
Bad
Plays: Mike Dunleavy, Brandon Rush, Josh McRoberts, T.J. Ford, Jeff Foster, Paul George, Tyler Hansbrough
Toss
Ups: Roy Hibbert, Darren Collison
Injury Report: No significant injuries.
Notes:
Hibbert was benched on Jan. 2 at New York due to his struggles on
the court. The move may not be permanent, but it is a sign that he is
not a very reliable option right now in Fantasy leagues. Be patient, but
consider starting other options for now. ... Foster started in Hibbert's
place on Jan. 2. He managed just two points and six rebounds before
fouling out. Don't worry about adding him in most formats. ... Collison
looks to be getting on a roll. He dropped an 18-6-4 line on the Wizards
on Dec. 31 and followed it with 22-6-5 on Jan. 2 at the Knicks.
Disappointing as he may be to this point, he seems to be worth a start,
barring a drop in production over the weekend.
L.A. Clippers
Schedule: MIA, @GS, LAL
Good Plays: Blake Griffin, Eric Gordon
Bad
Plays: Chris Kaman, Eric Bledsoe, Al-Farouq Aminu, Ryan Gomes, Rasual Butler, Randy Foye
Toss Ups: Baron Davis,
DeAndre Jordan
Injury Report: Chris Kaman (ankle/mid-January)
Notes: Reports out of Los
Angeles this week indicated that there is no rush to bring Kaman back on
the part of the Clippers. Don't expect him to play in Week 12. ...
Jordan is playing heavy minutes in Kaman's absence, averaging 10.2
points, 10.8 rebounds and 3.8 blocks over his last five games. He should
take advantage of very favorable matchups inside against the undersized
Heat and Warriors. ... Davis looks as healthy and productive as he has
all season. He is averaging 13.2 points and 8.0 assists with 1.2 steals
over his last five games. It is safe to activate him in any league
again. He should eat up Arroyo and Curry in head-to-head matchups this
week.

L.A. Lakers
Schedule: CLE, @GS, NJ, @LAC
Good
Plays: Kobe Bryant, Pau Gasol
Bad Plays: Ron Artest,
Shannon Brown, Matt Barnes, Derek Fisher, Steve Blake
Toss Ups: Andrew Bynum,
Lamar Odom
Injury Report: Lamar Odom (shoulder/day-to-day)
Notes: In five games as a
starter, Bynum is averaging 12.4 points, 9.0 rebounds and 2.0 blocks. He
should only get better the further he is removed from his injury and
looks like a great play in any format -- especially in a four-game week.
... Odom's numbers have not suffered much at all since Bynum's return.
He averaged 15.6 points, 9.8 rebounds, and 3.2 assists in 31 starts. In
five games off the bench, Odom has averaged 15.4 points, 7.6 rebounds
and 3.0 assists. ... The Lakers play three games against teams that
allow over 100 points per game in Week 12.
Memphis Grizzlies
Schedule: @CHA, @DET, DAL
Good
Plays: Zach Randolph, Rudy Gay, Marc Gasol
Bad
Plays: Tony Allen, Xavier Henry, Hasheem Thabeet, Greivis Vasquez
Toss Ups: Mike Conley,
O.J. Mayo
Injury Report: O.J. Mayo (bronchitis/day-to-day), Xavier Henry (knee/day-to-day)
Notes: Mayo and Allen
reportedly got into a fight over a gambling debt on a team flight this
week. No suspensions are expected, but Mayo did sit out the team's next
game with what the team called "bronchitis," even though there were
reports that Mayo's face was swollen after the fight. ... Mayo averaged
13.8 points, 3.8 rebounds and 2.5 assists over his previous four games
and had been playing decent minutes, but he is far from a must-start at
this stage. ... Ironically, in the absence of Mayo and Henry (due to
injury), Allen was able to have his most productive game of the season
with 19 points on Jan. 4 against the Thunder. As Mayo and Henry return,
however, Allen will see his minutes and touches greatly reduced. ...
Conley is averaging 7.0 assists and 1.2 steals over his last five games,
but his scoring has been erratic. He remains a good play in most
standard formats, but has certainly cooled since his red-hot start to
the season.
Miami Heat
Schedule: @LAC, @DEN, @CHI
Good
Plays: Dwyane Wade, LeBron James, Chris Bosh
Bad
Plays: Mike Miller, Carlos Arroyo, Mario Chalmers, James Jones, Zydrunas Ilgauskas, Joel Anthony, Eddie House
Toss
Ups: None.
Injury Report: Udonis Haslem (foot/out of the season)
Notes: Miller is
being brought along slowly and looks to still have a lot of catching up
to do. In his first six games back, he shot just 1 of 13 and averaged
8.3 minutes. ... Jones is averaging just 17.0 minutes over his last five
games, managing just 6.0 points per game. ... Ilgauskas is averaging
just 16.4 minutes over his last five games.
Milwaukee Bucks
Schedule: @ATL, SA, @PHI
Good
Plays: Andrew Bogut, John Salmons
Bad Plays: Corey Maggette, Drew Gooden, Carlos Delfino, Chris Douglas-Roberts,
Larry Sanders, Jon Brockman
Toss Ups: Keyon Dooling, Earl Boykins, Ersan Ilyasova
Injury Report: Brandon Jennings (foot/mid-January), Drew Gooden
(foot/out until at least Jan. 11), Carlos Delfino
(concussion/out indefinitely), Michael Redd
(knee/February)
Notes: Jennings is hopeful of returning in
mid-January, but no official return date has been set. At best, he would
return over the weekend, but seems unlikely to play in Week 12. ... In
Jennings' absence, Dooling and Boykins have stepped up. Dooling is the
better source for assists, while Boykins has been a decent source for
cheap double-digit scoring. Both are low-end plays for deeper leagues.
... Gooden has been shut down through the weekend due to continued pain
as a result of plantar fasciitis. He should return in Week 12, but is
looking at limited playing time early on. ... Ilyasova was unable to
back up his 16-point, 17-rebound effort on Jan. 1 with anything
significant in his next two games, but they did come on the road at
Miami and Orlando on back-to-back nights. He has some appeal in deeper
formats as a sleeper with Gooden limited.

Minnesota Timberwolves
Schedule: SA, WAS, ORL
Good
Plays: Kevin Love, Michael Beasley
Bad Plays: Wesley Johnson, Jonny Flynn, Martell Webster, Corey Brewer, Sebastian Telfair, Anthony Tolliver
Toss
Ups: Darko Milicic, Luke Ridnour
Injury Report: Anthony Tolliver (knee/day-to-day)
Notes: Milicic still seems
to be bothered by an ailing hip. Over his last five games, he is
averaging 9.8 points, 4.6 rebounds and 1.6 blocks per game, making him a
very low-end option. ... Flynn is still not ready for big minutes after
missing much of the season. He has averaged just 17.5 minutes in 11
appearances this season. ... Ridnour cooled off a bit this week but is
still averaging 12.4 points, 6.8 assists, 2.8 rebounds and 1.6 steals
over his last five games, useful in many formats. ... The Timberwolves
play three games in Week 12, two of which come against top-10 defensive
teams.
New Jersey Nets
Schedule: @PHO, @LAL, @POR
Good
Plays: Brook Lopez, Devin Harris
Bad Plays: Travis Outlaw,
Troy Muprhy, Sasha Vujacic, Jordan Farmar, Anthony Morrow
Toss
Ups: Kris Humphries, Derrick Favors
Injury Report: Kris Humphries (thigh/day-to-day), Anthony Morrow (hamstring/mid-January)
Notes: Nets coach
Avery Johnson made a surprise move this week to insert rookie Derrick Favors into the starting lineup over Kris Humphries, who had been playing well. Humphries was still able
to play big minutes in Favors' first start and posted a big stat line,
but that came with Favors playing limited minutes due to early foul
trouble. As Favors improves, Humphries will lose playing time and
touches.
New Orleans Hornets
Schedule: ORL, @HOU, @CHA
Good
Plays: Chris Paul, David West, Emeka Okafor
Bad
Plays: Marcus Thornton, Jarrett Jack, Jason Smith
Toss
Ups: Trevor Ariza, Marco Belinelli
Injury Report: No significant injuries.
Notes:
Ariza can still put up nice numbers, but consistency is an issue. He
has not scored in double figures in back-to-back games in his last five
contests. Avoid him outside of deeper formats. ... The Hornets figure to
be in for a pair of up-tempo games this week against the Rockets and the
suddenly fast-paced Bobcats. This could be a good week to take advantage
of Belinelli in larger formats, mostly in a pinch.
New York Knicks
Schedule: @POR, @UTA, SAC
Good
Plays: Amar'e Stoudemire, Raymond Felton, Wilson Chandler
Bad
Plays: Toney Douglas, Anthony Randolph, Timofey Mozgov, Shawne Williams
Toss Ups: Landry Fields, Ronny Turiaf
Injury
Report: Danilo Gallinari (knee/late
January), Kelenna Azubuike (knee/out
indefinitely), Eddy Curry (hamstring/out
indefinitely)
Notes: Gallinari will be out until at least late
December due to a sprained left knee. ... Fields has not done much in
Gallinari's absence but has seen a solid spike in playing time and
should remain a viable low-end play in larger formats. ... Williams has
seen a spike in playing time, but he is little more than a cheap source
for 3-point shooting in larger category leagues. ... Turiaf is back in
the Knicks' starting lineup, but does not do much outside of blocks and
some light rebounding.
Oklahoma City Thunder
Schedule: @HOU, ORL
Good
Plays: Kevin Durant, Russell Westbrook
Bad Plays: Thabo Sefolosha, Nenad Krstic, Nick Collison, Eric Maynor
Toss
Ups: Jeff Green, Serge Ibaka, James Harden
Injury
Report: No significant injuries.
Notes: The Thunder play
just two games in Week 12, one of which is against a Magic team that
allows less than 93 points per game. ... Green is averaging just 9.2
points over his last five games and has seen his shot attempts decrease.
He is a player to reserve in both cumulative and average-based pay. ...
Ibaka has scored in double figures just twice in his last seven games.
He remains merely a source for rebounds and blocks. ... Harden is
averaging 14.6 points over his last five games with solid 3-point
shooting and some nice numbers in steals. However, he should only be
considered in average-based play given the two-game slate.
Orlando Magic
Schedule: @NO, @OKC, @MIN
Good
Plays: Dwight Howard, Hedo Turkoglu
Bad Plays: J.J. Redick, Ryan Anderson, Chris Duhon, Quentin Richardson
Toss
Ups: Gilbert Arenas, Jameer Nelson, Brandon Bass
Injury
Report: Ryan Anderson
(finger/day-to-day), Malik Allen
(ankle/day-to-day), Jason Williams
(foot/out indefinitely)
Notes: Perhaps Turkoglu can return
to his Magic glory days after all. In his last five games, he is
averaging a 14-5-8 stat line, including a triple-double on Jan. 3, and
has stepped right back in to the role he flourished in two seasons ago.
... Arenas is averaging just 22.4 minutes per game in his last five,
leading to very reduced production across the board. Currently, he is no
more than a No. 4 guard in standard Fantasy formats. ... With Arenas
around, Nelson's numbers have suffered, but he remains an adequate
source for assists. He is averaging a 10-7-3 stat line over his last
five games and is still a viable play in many formats. ... Bass has
chosen not to have surgery and his production has stayed steady. Fantasy
owners can count on him for around 10 points and five boards per contest.
Philadelphia 76ers
Schedule: IND, MIL
Good Plays: Elton Brand, Jrue Holiday
Bad
Plays: Spencer Hawes, Thaddeus Young, Evan Turner, Lou Williams, Jodie Meeks, Andres Nocioni, Marreese Speights
Toss
Ups: Andre Iguodala
Injury
Report: Andre Iguodala
(Achilles'/out until at least Jan. 11)
Notes: The Sixers play
just two games in Week 12, both against teams that allow below 100
points per game. ... Iguodala hopes to return to practice early in Week
12 and could play, but there is no guarantee. Barring a significant
improvement over the weekend, he is a player to reserve -- especially
given the two-game slate.
Phoenix Suns
Schedule: @DEN, NJ, POR
Good Plays: Steve Nash
Bad Plays: Jared Dudley,
Robin Lopez, Mickael Pietrus, Hakim Warrick, Goran Dragic, Josh Childress
Toss
Ups: Vince Carter, Grant Hill, Channing Frye, Marcin Gortat
Injury Report: No significant injuries.
Notes:
In four appearances with the Suns, Carter is avearging 16.8 points
per game. He is averaging aroung 17 shots per game after averaging just
12.1 in Orlando in 22 appearances. ... Hill isn't slowing down. He is
still playing 30-plus minutes per game and is averaging a solid 14-3-5
over his last five games with over a steal per contest. ... Frye is just
14 of 41 from the field in his last five games. He is averaging just 7.2
points per game in that span. ... Gortat is averaging 30.0 minutes per
game in six appearances with the Suns after averaging just 15.8 minutes
per game for the Magic. He is averaging 11.2 points and 6.8 rebounds
with 1.4 blocks in his last five games.
Portland Trail Blazers
Schedule: NY, @PHO, NJ
Good
Plays: LaMarcus Aldridge, Andre Miller, Marcus Camby
Bad
Plays: Brandon Roy, Rudy Fernandez, Patrick Mills, Joel Przybilla
Toss Ups: Wesley Matthews, Nicolas Batum
Injury
Report: Brandon Roy (knee/out
indefinitely), Greg Oden (knee/out for
the season)
Notes: Roy remains out indefinitely and is even
considering an experimental new surgical procedure. He could be shut
down for the season at any point and is not a player Fantasy owners
should be counting on in the short term. ... Even with Roy sidelined,
Matthews has cooled off. He has been held to 10 or fewer points in three
of his last five games. ... Nicolas is playing heavy minutes with Roy
out, averaging 36.0 per game over his last five. He is averaging 13.4
points and 3.8 rebounds over his last five games.
Sacramento Kings
Schedule: @WAS, @BOS, @NY, @DET
Good
Plays: DeMarcus Cousins
Bad
Plays: Samuel Dalembert, Donte Greene, Pooh Jeter
Toss
Ups: Tyreke Evans, Beno Udrih, Carl Landry, Jason Thompson, Francisco Garcia, Omri Casspi
Injury Report: No significant injuries.
Notes:
Evans is clearly still being bothered by lingering pain in his left
foot, leading to inconsistency in his output. He is playing big minutes,
but seems just as likely to drop 20-plus points one night as he is
scoring in single digits the next. Surgery remains an option and Evans
is a ticking time bomb in Fantasy hoops right now, but his upside makes
him worth activating in most leagues. ... Hot-and-cold Udrih is cold
again. In his last three games, he has totaled just eight points, eight
assists and 11 rebounds. ... Landry is getting inconsistent playing
time, leading to inconsistent results. He is not a recommended play
outside of deeper leagues at the moment. ... Thompson is seeing around
25 minutes per game with underwhelming results. Without an increase in
playing time, he remains no more than a stopgap measure for deeper
leagues. ... Garcia is surging entering the weekend, seeing double-digit
shot totals on a regular basis. Fantasy owners can count on him for
cheap double-digit scoring, steals and even some blocks for category
leagues. ... The latest King to go on a hot streak is Casspi, who posted
back-to-back double-doubles on Jan. 2 and Jan. 4. He saw 30-plus minutes
in each game, but with Paul Westphal's rotation being so erratic he
remains less than a guaranteed good play.

Schedule: @MIN, @MIL, DAL, DEN
Good
Plays: Tim Duncan, Tony Parker, Manu Ginobili
Bad
Plays: Gary Neal, Matt Bonner, Tiago Splitter, Antonio McDyess
Toss Ups: Richard Jefferson, DeJuan Blair, George Hill
Injury Report: No significant injuries.
Notes:
The Spurs start the week off with a back-to-back set, likely leading to
restricted playing time for Duncan. He is averaging 14.4 points and 7.0
rebounds over his last five games and remains a good play in most
leagues despite a drop in production this year. ... Jefferson has been
steady, albeit unimpressive, averaging around 12 points and four
rebounds per game. He is offering decent 3-point shooting and continues
to play around 30 minutes per game, but is little more than a low-end
play.
Toronto Raptors
Schedule: ATL, DET, @WAS
Good
Plays: Andrea Bargnani
Bad
Plays: Linas Kleiza, Leandro Barbosa, Jerryd Bayless, Ed Davis, Joey Dorsey, Sonny Weems
Toss Ups: Jose Calderon,
DeMar DeRozan, Amir Johnson
Injury Report: Jerryd Bayless (ankle/day-to-day), Sonny Weems
(back/day-to-day), Peja Stojakovic
(knee/out indefinitely), Reggie Evans
(foot/February)
Notes: Bargnani has proven to be healthy,
averaging a 24-2-7 line in two games since returning from a calf injury.
It is safe to activate him across the board again. ... Calderon also
proved to be healthy against the Cavaliers on Jan. 5, scoring 20 points
with a career-high 17 assists. That gave him 10-plus assists in six of
his last seven games, making him a player to activate across all
leagues. ... DeRozan has attempted 88 shots over his last five games,
leading to an impressive 22.2 points per game. He is seeing consistent
playing time and is a good source for scoring and steals, but not much
else. ... With Bargnani back, Kleiza has returned to a reduced role. ...
Johnson is averaging 11.4 points and 7.2 rebounds over his last five
games.
Utah Jazz
Schedule: NY, CLE
Good Plays: Deron Williams, Al Jefferson
Bad
Plays: C.J. Miles, Mehmet Okur, Raja Bell, Gordon Hayward
Toss Ups: Andrei Kirilenko, Paul Millsap
Injury
Report: Paul Millsap
(hip/day-to-day), Mehmet Okur (back/out
until at least Jan. 12)
Notes: Kirilenko is healthy enough to
play 30-plus minutes again, scoring 15-plus points in back-to-back games
entering the weekend. ... Miles has been restricted to fewer than 20
minutes in his first two games back from an illness. He is not a safe
play. ... Millsap has been dealing with lingering pain in his hip that
he said is affecting his movement. He is hopeful that taking a game off
on Wednesday will do the trick, but he looks to be an injury risk going
into Week 12. Monitor his progress.
Washington Wizards
Schedule: SAC, @MIN, TOR
Good
Plays: John Wall, Andray Blatche
Bad Plays: Josh Howard,
Al Thornton, Yi Jianlian
Toss Ups: Rashard Lewis,
JaVale McGee, Nick Young, Kirk Hinrich
Injury
Report: Josh Howard
(knee/day-to-day), Yi Jianlian
(knee/day-to-day)
Notes: All three opponents the Wizards will
play in Week 12 allow 100-plus points per game. ... Lewis is enjoying a
resurgence in Washington. Playing around 40 minutes per game over the
last five games, he has averaged 13.8 points, 7.4 rebounds and 3.6
assists with over a steal per game and a block in four straight
contests. Consider him a good play again in any format. ... McGee has
not scored in double figures in back-to-back games since early December.
He is averaging just 8.2 points per game over his last five games, but
is offering around eight rebounds and nearly three blocks per game in
that span. ... Expect Young, who is averaging nearly 20 points over his
last five games, to take advantage of three high-volume matchups in Week
12.
