Atlanta Hawks
Schedule: SAC, @MIA, NO, @CHA
Injury
Report: Al Horford
(ankle/day-to-day), Josh Smith
(ankle/day-to-day), Marvin Williams
(back/day-to-day)
Good Plays: Joe Johnson, Josh Smith, Al Horford, Jamal Crawford
Toss
Ups: Mike Bibby
Bad Plays: Marvin Williams, Jeff Teague, Jordan Crawford, Maurice Evans, Zaza Pachulia
Notes: Crawford is thriving in a sixth man
role again. He has scored 20-plus points in six straight entering the
weekend. ... Horford and Smith are dealing with only minor ankle issues,
so both should be fine to play over the weekend and are safe plays for
Week 13. ... Williams has been out since Dec. 29 with a bruised back.
He's currently not worth an injury-risk gamble, but he had averaged 14.2
points and 5.2 rebounds over 10 games prior to getting hurt. ... Bibby
has scored in double digits just once in his last five games and remains
a very low-end play for deep, deep leagues only.
Boston Celtics
Schedule: ORL, DET, UTA, @WAS
Injury
Report: Kevin Garnett
(calf/day-to-day), Jermaine O'Neal
(knee/day-to-day), Kendrick Perkins
(knee/late January), Delonte West (wrist/February)
Good Plays: Rajon Rondo, Paul Pierce, Ray Allen
Toss Ups: Kevin Garnett,
Glen Davis, Shaquille O'Neal
Bad Plays: Nate Robinson,
Jermaine O'Neal, Marquis Daniels, Avery Bradley, Semih Erden, Luke Harangody
Notes:
Garnett seems to be ready to return, but the Celtics are being a
little extra cautious with him. He is expected to be back by Monday's
game against Orlando and should be a safe play. ... Coach Doc Rivers has
attempted unsuccessfully to limit Davis' minutes. The return of Garnett
could offer him an opportunity to do so. ... Jermaine O'Neal is mulling surgery options for his ailing left knee. He
may be sidelined a while, but has not been worth activating of late
anyway. ... Even if Jermaine O'Neal is
sidelined for a while, don't expect Shaquille O'Neal
to be asked to play much more than the 20 minutes per game he has been
playing. In his last five games, Shaq has averaged just 6.6 points and
2.8 rebounds.
Charlotte Bobcats
Schedule: @PHI, @CHI, PHI, ATL
Injury
Report: Nazr Mohammed
(knee/day-to-day)
Good Plays: Stephen Jackson, D.J. Augustin, Gerald Wallace
Toss Ups: Boris Diaw,
Tyrus Thomas, Kwame Brown
Bad Plays: Nazr Mohammed,
Gerald Henderson, Shaun Livingston, Derrick Brown, Dominic McGuire
Notes: Mohammed could return from his knee
injury as soon as Friday, but he is expected to come off the bench at
least initially. ... Brown is averaging 7.2 rebounds over his last five
games to go with 8.0 points. He is not an ideal start in any format, but
could be one of the few viable options off the waiver wire at the weak
center position. ... Wallace played 41 minutes in his return from an
ankle injury on Jan. 12, proving he's ready to be plugged back into any
lineup. ... Diaw is averaging a well-rounded 10-5-6 stat line over his
last five games with nearly a steal and block per game. He can also chip
in from beyond the arc and is a great low-end play in category leagues
right now. ... Even with Wallace back in the lineup, Thomas was able to
post 17 points and 13 rebounds on Jan. 12 vs. Chicago. As long as you
expect inconsistency, he can be a decent low-end starter in larger
formats for his occasional outbursts.
Chicago Bulls
Schedule: @MEM, CHA, DAL, CLE
Injury
Report: Joakim Noah (thumb/February)
Good
Plays: Derrick Rose, Carlos Boozer, Luol Deng
Toss
Ups: Ronnie Brewer
Bad Plays: Taj Gibson, Kurt Thomas, Keith Bogans, C.J. Watson, Kyle Korver, Omer Asik, James Johnson
Notes: Gibson still appears to be dealing
with the lingering effects of a concussion suffered on Dec. 18. He has
had just one truly productive game in 11 contests since returning. ...
Despite coming off the bench, Brewer is averaging 30-plus minutes per
game in his last five contests. He has not been a reliable source for
much production across the board, but owners in deeper category leagues
looking for steals could look his way. He has had at least two in six of
seven January games.

Cleveland Cavaliers
Schedule: PHO, MIL, @CHI
Injury
Report: Daniel Gibson
(ankle/day-to-day), Anthony Parker
(back/day-to-day), Christian Eyenga
(ankle/day-to-day), Anderson Varejao
(ankle/likely out for the season)
Good Plays: Antawn Jamison
Toss Ups: Mo Williams,
Daniel Gibson, Ramon Sessions, Manny Harris, J.J. Hickson
Bad Plays: Anthony Parker,
Jamario Moon, Christian Eyenga, Alonzo Gee, Ryan Hollins
Notes: The Cavaliers are one of just seven
NBA teams to play less than four games in Week 13. ... With Varejao out
for the season, Hickson is getting a chance to start at center with
mixed results. His first start resulted in 23 points with 17 rebounds on
Jan. 9 at Phoenix. His next resulted in just five points and four
rebounds on Jan. 11 at the Lakers. Expect him to offer double-digit
scoring and decent rebounding once things settle down, making him a
solid play -- especially in those leagues where he is eligible at
center. ... Mo Williams has been held
below 10 points in three of his last five games and is averaging just
7.8 points in that span, but also 7.2 assists and 1.2 steals. ... Gibson
was expected to be out through the team's road trip that ends over the
weekend, but he did meet up with the team on Tuesday and could return
over the weekend. Given the limited schedule and the fact he may not be
100 percent, however, we would recommend alternatives. ... With Gibson
mostly absent, Sessions has averaged a 13-6-4 stat line in January.
However, he managed just 4-3-2 in Gibson's only January appearance. ...
Harris has gotten a chance to play 35-plus minutes per game over his
last three games, averaging 17.0 points over those games. However, if
Gibson is back in the mix, those numbers should drop immediately.
Dallas Mavericks
Schedule: @DET, LAL, @CHI, @NJ
Injury
Report: Dirk Nowitzki
(knee/day-to-day), Roddy Beaubois
(foot/February), Caron Butler (knee/out
for the season)
Good Plays: Jason Kidd,
Jason Terry
Toss Ups: Dirk Nowitzki, Shawn Marion, DeShawn Stevenson, Tyson Chandler
Bad
Plays: Brendan Haywood, Jose Juan Barea, Dominique Jones
Notes:
Nowitzki missed his eighth straight game on Jan. 12, but the
Mavericks insist he is day-to-day. Coach Rick Carlisle has refused to
provide daily updates on his status. Fantasy owners will have to monitor
this situation closely again over the weekend, but have healthy
alternatives prepared. ... With Nowitzki and Butler sidelined, Marion is
averaging 17.0 points and 6.4 rebounds over his last five games.
Stevenson has averaged 17.4 points and 3.0 rebounds in that span. Both
could see a dip in production this week but remain decent low-end plays
in most formats. Stevenson is offering premium 3-point shooting for
category leagues. ... Chandler is averaging 12.2 points and 12.2
rebounds with 1.4 blocks over his last five games.
Denver Nuggets
Schedule: OKC, LAL, IND
Injury
Report: Chris Andersen
(knee/mid-January)
Good Plays: Carmelo Anthony, Nene
Toss Ups: Chauncey Billups, Arron Afflalo, Al Harrington
Bad Plays: Ty Lawson,
J.R. Smith, Kenyon Martin, Chris Andersen, Shelden Williams
Notes: While the potential for a Carmelo Anthony mega-deal still exists, talks have cooled off over the
course of this week. For now, anticipate everybody staying put through
Week 13. ... Billups has averaged 14.8 points and just 2.8 assists over
his last five games. ... Afflalo scored 31 points with nine rebounds on
Jan. 11 vs. Phoenix. He had scored a combined 13 points with five
rebounds in his two previous games. ... Smith scored 15 points on Jan.
11, but had not scored in double figures in four straight games prior to
that. He continues to play inconsistent minutes. ... Martin is not yet
up to par and is being restricted in terms of playing time. ...
Harrington appears to be over his recent back ailment, averaging 15.0
points over his last three games.
Detroit Pistons
Schedule: DAL, @BOS, @NJ, PHO
Injury
Report: Ben Wallace
(ankle/day-to-day), Jonas Jerebko
(Achilles'/out indefinitely)
Good Plays: Rodney Stuckey
Toss Ups: Tayshaun Prince, Greg Monroe, Charlie Villanueva, Ben Gordon, Tracy McGrady
Bad Plays: Richard Hamilton, Ben Wallace, Austin Daye, Will Bynum, Chris Wilcox
Notes: Like the Nuggets and Nets, the Pistons
have several players dealing with the potential of a trade. However,
Fantasy owners should procede as normal barring developments over the
weekend. ... Pistons coach John Kuester made a change to the team's
starting lineup on Jan. 12, moving McGrady to point guard and Stuckey to
shooting guard with Prince at small forward, Wilcox at power forward and
Monroe at center. Gordon and Villanueva moved to the bench while Wallace
missed the game due to injury. ... Wilcox is likely to return to the
bench when Wallace is ready to return. He was unproductive in his chance
to start, but did have 13 points and nine rebounds off the bench on Jan.
10. He is worth monitoring, but that's about it for now. ... Villanueva
is not doing much lately, averaging only 6.6 points and 4.0 rebounds
over his last five games. ... Gordon was productive in a familiar sixth
man role on Jan. 12, scoring 25 points with four assists in just 23
minutes. He has been very successful as a bench player in the past. Look
to see if he can back up the performance before making a decision. ...
McGrady put together a very productive 16-4-6 line in his first start at
point guard and is worth taking a chance on in deeper formats. ...
Prince is averaging a 17-3-4 stat line in January. ... Monroe entered
the weekend on the heels of four consecutive double-doubles. He is also
providing solid numbers in steals and should remain a prominent part of
the rotation.

Golden State Warriors
Schedule: NJ, IND, SAC, @LAC
Injury
Report: No significant injuries.
Good Plays: Monta Ellis, David Lee, Stephen Curry, Dorell Wright
Toss
Ups: Andris Biedrins
Bad
Plays: Reggie Williams, Ekpe Udoh, Lou Amundson, Rodney Carney, Jeremy Lin
Notes:
Curry has not looked 100 percent recovered from his ankle issues,
but he remains a good play in all formats. He has averaged a 15-6-4 stat
line over his last five games. ... Lee is also not at 100 percent, but
is averaging 14-5-7 during the same span, good enough to activate in all
leagues. ... On top of not scoring, Biedrins now is not rebounding
either. He has averaged just 4.8 boards in four games since returning
from an ankle injury. Avoid him.
Houston Rockets
Schedule: MIL, NY, @MEM, ORL
Injury
Report: Kevin Martin
(wrist/day-to-day), Chuck Hayes
(ankle/day-to-day), Brad Miller
(knee/mid-January), Yao Ming (ankle/out
for the season)
Good Plays: Luis Scola,
Kevin Martin
Toss Ups: Aaron Brooks, Kyle Lowry, Shane Battier, Jordan Hill
Bad
Plays: Chase Budinger, Courtney Lee, Terrence Williams, Chuck Hayes, Patrick Patterson
Notes:
Martin is expected to return over the weekend after missing two
games with a wrist injury. Barring a setback over the weekend, Fantasy
owners should count on activating him. ... In Martin's absence, Lowry
put up back-to-back solid performances against the Celtics and Thunder.
Brooks also averaged 20.5 points and 5.0 assists in those games, looking
to be as healthy as he has been since the beginning of the season. If
Martin and Brooks are healthy, expect Lowry's numbers to dip
significantly in Week 13. ... Battier has not provided great numbers in
any particular category, but he can offer a little of everything across
the board for owners in deeper category leagues. Over his last five
games, he has averaged a 9-2-4 line with a steal per game and some light
3-point shooting. He should be viewed as merely a stopgap measure, but
could see inflated numbers against high-volume opponents like the Knicks
and Grizzlies in Week 13. ... With Miller expected to miss about a week
to rest a sore knee and Hayes banged up, Hill is getting a chance to
play good minutes at the five spot. He is a shot in the dark for larger
leagues.
Indiana Pacers
Schedule: @LAC, @GS, @POR, @DEN
Good
Plays: Danny Granger
Bad
Plays: Brandon Rush, T.J. Ford, Josh McRoberts, Jeff Foster, Paul George, James Posey, Dahntay Jones
Toss
Ups: Darren Collison, Roy Hibbert, Mike Dunleavy, Tyler Hansbrough
Injury Report: No significant injuries.
Notes:
The Pacers will play three high-volume matchups in Week 13 against
the Clippers, Warriors and Nuggets. Expect a high-scoring week. ...
Hibbert's struggles continue, but mostly on the offensive end. He has
averaged 8.0 points and 1.2 steals to go with 9.0 points and 1.2 assists
over his last five games. He should only be activated in deeper leagues
at this time. ... Collison is enjoying one of his better stretches of
the season, averaging a 17-7-3 line over his last five, including 1.8
steals per game. He should continue his run given the favorable matchups
throughout Week 13. ... Dunleavy has been very spotty, alternating
between double-digit and single-digit performances in January. He has
averaged 9.6 points and 5.6 rebounds. ... As anticipated, Hansbrough's
run of prominence came to an end on Jan. 12 when he played just 17
minutes and finished with six points and three rebounds.
L.A. Clippers
Schedule: IND, MIN, @POR, GS
Injury
Report: Chris Kaman (ankle/February)
Good
Plays: Blake Griffin, Eric Gordon, Baron Davis
Toss
Ups: DeAndre Jordan
Bad
Plays: Chris Kaman, Eric Bledsoe, Al-Farouq Aminu, Ryan Gomes, Rasual Butler, Randy Foye
Notes: Davis is enjoying his best stretch of the
season. Over his last five games he has averaged 15.4 points, 8.4
assists and 2.4 rebounds with 3-pointer and steals per game. It took a
while, but he is just about a must-start again. ... Kaman now sounds
like he will miss the rest of January with his lingering ankle injury.
That should buy Jordan -- who has been good for around 10-and-10 with a
few blocks per game -- a few more scoring periods of usefulness.
L.A. Lakers
Schedule: OKC, @DAL, @DEN
Injury
Report: Matt Barnes (knee/March)
Good
Plays: Pau Gasol, Kobe Bryant, Lamar Odom, Andrew Bynum
Toss Ups: Ron Artest
Bad
Plays: Shannon Brown, Derek Fisher, Steve Blake
Notes:
Bynum has looked plenty healthy in January, averaging 13.9 points
and 8.0 rebounds with 2.9 blocks. ... Odom has averaged 15.6 points, 9.2
rebounds and 2.7 assists in nine games since moving to the bench in
favor of Bynum. Those numbers are nearly identical to the numbers he
averaged in 31 games as a starter, despite averaging over seven minutes
less per contest. ... Odom has complained of lingering shoulder pain,
something to monitor going forward. However, he has played through it
and expects to continue to do so. ... Artest is far from a must-start
these days, but lately he has quietly put together useful stat lines for
deeper category leagues, averaging an 11-4-4 stat line over his last
five games with about a steal per game and two 3-pointers made.
Memphis Grizzlies
Schedule: CHI, @NO, HOU, @MIL
Injury
Report: Tony Allen
(knee/day-to-day), Xavier Henry
(knee/out indefinitely)
Good Plays: Zach Randolph, Rudy Gay, Marc Gasol
Toss Ups: Mike Conley,
O.J. Mayo
Bad Plays: Tony Allen, Darrell Arthur, Greivis Vasquez, Xavier Henry
Notes:
Conley continues to play big minutes, but his production has
significantly tailed off as the season has worn on. He has averaged 11.3
points, 6.6 assists and 3.0 rebounds with a steal per game in January,
making him more of a low-end play these days. Start him based on your
options. ... Mayo's inconsistency has no end in sight. He is back to
being a limited option in the rotation, totaling just 12 points in his
last two games. Avoid him, barring another sudden surge over the weekend.
Miami Heat
Schedule: ATL, TOR
Injury Report: LeBron James (ankle/day-to-day), Udonis Haslem
(foot/March)
Good Plays: LeBron James,
Dwyane Wade, Chris Bosh
Toss Ups: None.
Bad Plays: Zydrunas Ilgauskas, James Jones, Mike Miller, Carlos Arroyo, Mario Chalmers, Eddie House, Joel Anthony, Erick Dampier
Notes:
James tweaked an ankle on Wednesday night and the Heat held him out
of Thursday's game in Denver in order to let him heal. He hopes to
return Saturday against Chicago and should be a safe play for Week 13,
barring setbacks. Jones started in his absence. ... Miller has reached
10 minutes in a game just once since returning from injury.
Milwaukee Bucks
Schedule: @HOU, WAS, @CLE, MEM
Injury
Report: Brandon Jennings
(foot/mid-January), Carlos Delfino
(concussion/late January), Michael Redd
(knee/February)
Good Plays: Andrew Bogut
Toss
Ups: John Salmons, Corey Maggette, Ersan Ilyasova, Chris Douglas-Roberts, Keyon Dooling, Earl Boykins
Bad Plays: Brandon Jennings, Drew Gooden, Luc Richard Mbah a Moute, Larry Sanders
Notes:
Jennings has been able to do some shooting drills at practice, but
is not yet ready for contact drills and is unlikely to return in Week
13. ... In his absence, Dooling and Boykins will continue to split point
guard duties. Dooling has been a decent cheap source for dimes while
Boykins has been a cheap source for double-digit scoring. ... Bogut is
getting over the effects of a virus that has affected him since
mid-December, but he looked plenty healthy Wednesday while scoring 15
points with 14 rebounds. ... Salmons is averaging a 15-2-3 stat line
over his last five games with over a steal per game and two 3-pointers
per tilt. ... Maggette has shown some sparks over the last few games,
scoring 20 points twice in his last four games. However, he has managed
just 11 points combined over the other two games in that span. ...
Douglas-Roberts remains hard to peg. He scored 30 and 24 against the
Heat and Nets in back-to-back games only to attempt just two shots
against the Spurs, missing both. He is too much of a wild card to trust
in Fantasy at the moment, but is worth monitoring.
Minnesota Timberwolves
Schedule: @POR, @LAC
Injury
Report: Michael Beasley
(ankle/day-to-day)
Good Plays: Kevin Love
Toss Ups: Michael Beasley,
Darko Milicic, Luke Ridnour
Bad Plays: Corey Brewer, Wesley Johnson, Martell Webster, Jonny Flynn, Anthony Tolliver, Nikola Pekovic, Sebastian Telfair
Notes: Beasley was held out on Thursday after
re-aggravating an ankle injury in Tuesday's game. He may also miss
Saturday's game, but the hope is that he can return in time for this
upcoming Monday's game in Portland. Given the two game slate and his
tentative status, have healthy alternatives prepared. ... Love is
averaging 27.2 points and 16.2 rebounds over his last five games. Even
with just two games, he can still provide Fantasy owners with enough to
be a quality play in cumulative formats. ... Milicic finally looks to be
getting over his recent hip issues, posting double-doubles in two of his
last three games, but he remains viable only in average-based play for
Week 13 given the two-game slate. ... Flynn is still being brought along
slowly. Over his last five games he has averaged just 15.8 minutes. ...
Ridnour is averaging a 13-8-3 line over his last five games, but is only
an option for average-based play in Week 13.
New Jersey Nets
Schedule: @GS, UTA, DET, DAL
Injury
Report: Anthony Morrow
(hamstring/day-to-day), Troy Murphy
(illness/day-to-day)
Good Plays: Brook Lopez
Toss Ups: Devin Harris,
Kris Humphries, Derrick Favors
Bad Plays: Travis Outlaw,
Anthony Morrow, Jordan Farmar, Troy Murphy, Sasha Vujacic
Notes: A potential three-team mega deal that
could shake up the roster remains a possibility for New Jersey, though
far from certain. Indications have been that the Nets do not anticipate
making any moves until after the team's four-game road trip that ends
after Monday's game at Golden State. That leaves the door open for a
shakeup after that, however, and potentially players like Harris and
Favors could find themselves being moved across the country, having to
clear physicals and red tape before playing in a game. ... Favors has
scored 12 points in three consecutive games, but has proven to be very
raw since being promoted to the starting lineup. He could become a
13-and-7 type with good numbers in blocks down the line, but he remains
a low-end play in Fantasy for now. ... Humphries has remained viable for
Fantasy owners despite being moved to the bench. He has averaged 15.6
points and 9.4 rebounds over his last five games and a potential trade
that could ship Favors and Murphy out of Jersey would only help his
Fantasy appeal.
New Orleans Hornets
Schedule: TOR, MEM, @ATL, SA
Injury
Report: Marco Belinelli
(ankle/day-to-day)
Good Plays: Chris Paul, David West, Emeka Okafor
Toss Ups: Trevor Ariza
Bad
Plays: Marco Belinelli, Jarrett Jack, Marcus Thornton, Jason Smith
Notes: Belinelli hurt his ankle a minute into
Wednesday's game vs. Orlando and was held out Thursday in order to
prevent a long-term injury. He could return over the weekend. When
healthy, Belinelli remains merely a cheap source for 3-point shooting
for deeper category leagues. ... Ariza is heating up. Over his last four
games, Ariza has averaged 15.0 points, 7.0 rebounds and 3.3 assists with
solid numbers in 3-point shooting and steals. He should benefit from
high-volume games against the Raptors and Grizzlies in Week 13.
New York Knicks
Schedule: PHO, @HOU, @SA, @OKC
Injury
Report: Amar'e Stoudemire
(shoulder/day-to-day), Danilo Gallinari
(knee/day-to-day), Anthony Ranolph
(illness/day-to-day), Kelenna Azubuike
(knee/out indefinitely)
Good Plays: Amar'e Stoudemire, Raymond Felton, Wilson Chandler
Toss Ups: Landry Fields, Shawne Williams, Ronny Turiaf
Bad Plays: Danilo Gallinari, Toney Douglas, Bill Walker
Notes: The Knicks are hopeful that Gallinari
could return on Monday or Wednesday during Week 13, but his return
remains uncertain. Fantasy owners will have to monitor his progress
leading up to lineup deadlines, but his potential return in Week 13
makes potential stopgaps like Williams non-viable. ... Even with
Gallinari out of the picture, Fields has remained inconsistent. His
rebounding, however, has remained steady and allows him to remain a
viable low-end play in a four-game week that includes favorable matchups
against the Suns and Rockets. ... Turiaf came down to earth after
posting an uncharacteristic 19 points on Jan. 11 in Portland. Rebounds
and blocks are his game, not offense.
Oklahoma City Thunder
Schedule: @LAL, @DEN, NY
Injury
Report: James Harden
(finger/day-to-day)
Good Plays: Kevin Durant, Russell Westbrook
Toss
Ups: Jeff Green, Serge Ibaka, James Harden, Nenad Krstic
Bad Plays: Thabo Sefolosha, Nick Collison, Eric Maynor
Notes: Harden is dealing with lingering pain
in the fingers of his left hand, which has affected his shooting of
late. He is a player to avoid until he can prove healthy and productive
again. ... Green is starting to show signs of breaking out of a recent
funk, scoring 15-plus in three of his last four games. Matchups against
the Nuggets and Knicks this week should help his cause. ... Ibaka has
lacked consistency but can average around 10 points and six rebounds
with a block per game on most weeks. ... Krstic is worth a flier after
back-to-back strong showings against the Rockets and Magic, though it
will be hard for him to remain consistent while playing just around 20
minutes per game.
Orlando Magic
Schedule: @BOS, PHI, TOR, @HOU
Injury
Report: No significant injuries.
Good Plays: Dwight Howard, Hedo Turkoglu, Jason Richardson
Toss Ups: Jameer Nelson, Gilbert Arenas, Brandon Bass, J.J. Redick
Bad
Plays: Ryan Anderson, Chris Duhon, Quentin Richardson
Notes:
Nelson and Arenas continue to split point guard duties, cutting into
the statistical production of each player. Arenas is averaging merely
8-2-2 over his last five games while Nelson has managed 9-7-3 in the
same span with a larger share of the minutes. ... Redick remains merely
a stopgap measure for deep leagues, but he could see a couple of
inflated stat lines against two poor defensive teams in the Raptors and
Rockets this week. ... Bass is averaging 10.6 points and 6.6 rebounds
over his last five games.
Philadelphia 76ers
Schedule: CHA, @ORL, @CHA, UTA
Injury
Report: Andre Iguodala
(Achilles'/day-to-day), Andres Nocioni
(finger/day-to-day)
Good Plays: Jrue Holiday, Elton Brand
Toss
Ups: Andre Iguodala, Thaddeus Young, Evan Turner
Bad
Plays: Spencer Hawes, Lou Williams, Jodie Meeks, Andres Nocioni, Marreese Speights, Tony Battie
Notes: Coach Doug Collins said Wednesday that
Iguodala may have been rushed back from his Achilles' injury and it
showed against the Pacers. He scored just one point on 0-for-7 shooting
from the field. He should play on, however. If he can knock some of the
rust off over the weekend, he should be a safe play in most formats.
Just know to adjust expectations. ... With Iguodala back in the mix, the
Sixers have the ability to rest Nocioni, who could only play just three
minutes on Tuesday due to continued pain in his fractured finger. Don't
rely on him going forward. ... Young is offering around 11 points, five
rebounds and a block per game. ... Turner is coming off a pair of strong
performances, but unless he can prove productive alongside a healthy
Iguodala he will be a very risky play in weekly formats.
Phoenix Suns
Schedule: @NY, @CLE, @WAS, @DET
Injury
Report: Grant Hill (knee/day-to-day)
Good
Plays: Steve Nash
Toss Ups: Vince Carter, Channing Frye, Grant Hill, Jared Dudley, Robin Lopez
Bad Plays: Marcin Gortat,
Hakim Warrick, Goran Dragic, Mickael Pietrus, Josh Childress
Notes: The Suns play four games in Week 13
against teams that allow 100-plus points per game. ... Carter is
averaging 15.6 shots over his last five contests, leading to 17.8 points
per game to go with 4.8 rebounds. Expect some inflation in scoring this
week given what we expect to be high-volume games. ... Frye is enjoying
a return to the starting lineup, averaging 16.0 points and 9.0 rebounds
in three games since the switch. ... Hill is nursing a sore knee that
has kept him out for two games. ... Consider the matchups favorable for
flier pickups like Dudley and Lopez this week. Dudley, for one, is
averaging 15.0 points and 5.0 rebounds over his last five games and can
provide solid 3-point shooting for category leagues.
Portland Trail Blazers
Schedule: MIN, @SAC, LAC, IND
Injury
Report: Wesley Matthews
(ankle/day-to-day), Brandon Roy
(knee/out indefinitely), Greg Oden
(knee/out for the season)
Good Plays: LaMarcus Aldridge, Marcus Camby, Andre Miller
Toss Ups: Wesley Matthews, Nicolas Batum
Bad
Plays: Rudy Fernandez, Patick Mills, Dante Cunningham
Notes:
The Blazers finally decided to shut down Roy, who will have arthroscopic
surgery on his ailing knees. He may not play again this season, but that
has yet to be determined. ... Matthews, who figures to enjoy a continued
statistical boost while Roy is sidelined, tweaked an ankle in practice
on Thursday. If he can make it through the weekend in one piece, he
figures to be in for a good week thanks to favorable high-volume
matchups against the Timberwolves, Kings and Clippers. ... With Roy out
and Matthews banged up, look to Batum as a possible sleeper. Batum can
provide adequate 3-point shooting, mid-teens scoring and around five
boards per contest.
Sacramento Kings
Schedule: @ATL, POR, @GS
Injury
Report: Tyreke Evans
(ankle/day-to-day)
Good Plays: DeMarcus Cousins
Toss Ups: Tyreke Evans,
Beno Udrih, Carl Landry, Jason Thompson, Francisco Garcia
Bad Plays: Samuel Dalembert, Omri Casspi, Donte Greene, Pooh Jeter, Luther Head
Notes: The Kings have used 16 different starting
lineups this season, producing an environment of inconsistency for just
about everybody on the roster. ... Evans has missed three straight games
due to a left ankle sprain and continues to deal with lingering foot
pain due to plantar fasciitis. He remains a candidate to be shut down
for an extended amount of time and that makes him a risky play, but his
production -- even through all the injury issues -- makes him worth the
gamble at least in larger formats. ... With Evans banged up, Udrih has
seen his playing time rise over the last three games, as well has his
production across the board. He can be trusted as a solid stopgap
measure or handcuff for Evans owners, though the potential return of
Evans this week does make him a bit risky for weekly leagues. ... Landry
is on a roll again, averaging over 30 minutes and 19.0 points through
his past four games. He is far from a sure thing considering the team's
shaky rotation, but he appears to be a good play again. Take advantage
while it lasts. ... With Landry playing well, Thompson has faded again.
He has averaged just 8.8 points and 5.6 rebounds in his last five games
while seeing his playing time decrease. ... If Evans is ruled out for
any extended amount of time, Garcia would see a strong boost in value.
He has averaged 11 shots per game over his last five games, leading to
14.4 points per contest.
San Antonio Spurs
Schedule: TOR, NY, @NO
Injury
Report: Matt Bonner (knee/day-to-day)
Good
Plays: Tim Duncan, Manu Ginobili, Tony Parker
Toss
Ups: Richard Jefferson, DeJuan Blair, George Hill
Bad
Plays: Matt Bonner, Gary Neal, Antonio McDyess, Tiago Splitter, James Anderson
Notes:
Expect more spotty play from Jefferson, who is averaging 9.6 points
per game over his last five contests. The playing time is there, but his
shot volumes have fluctuated significantly. He could benefit from
favorable matchups against high-volume teams in the Raptors and Knicks,
however. ... Blair is averaging just 16.2 minutes per game over his last
five. ... Owners looking for a one-week stopgap in larger leagues could
look to Hill, who should score 10-15 points against the likes of the
Knicks and Raptors.
Toronto Raptors
Schedule: @NO, @SA, @ORL, @MIA
Injury
Report: Amir Johnson
(back/day-to-day), Jerryd Bayless
(ankle/day-to-day), Reggie Evans
(foot/day-to-day), Peja Stojakovic
(knee/out indefinitely)
Good Plays: Andrea Bargnani
Toss Ups: Jose Calderon, DeMar DeRozan, Leandro Barbosa
Bad Plays: Amir Johnson,
Linas Kleiza, Jerryd Bayless, Ed Davis, Sonny Weems, Joey Dorsey
Notes:
The Raptors are slated for four games against teams that allow under
100 points per game. The Hornets, Magic and Heat each allow fewer than 94
points per game. ... Calderon has been unable to practice due to
lingering pain in his left foot, but he has been able to play on with
positive results. He has averaged 13.8 points and 11.0 assists over his
last five games, but owners should be aware that there is some injury
risk involved in activating him. ... DeRozan's surge has continued as
the shooting guard has been getting around 15 shots per game on a
regular basis. Those numbers could decline a bit given what should be
low-volume contests this week, but his 17.6 scoring average over his
last five games suggests he remains a worthy play. ... Barbosa is
clicking on all cylinders, averaging a 19-4-2 line over his last five
games.
Utah Jazz
Schedule: @WAS, @NJ, @BOS, @PHI
Injury
Report: Mehmet Okur (back/day-to-day)
Good
Plays: Deron Williams, Al Jefferson, Paul Millsap
Toss
Ups: Andrei Kirilenko, C.J. Miles
Bad Plays: Mehmet Okur,
Raja Bell, Gordon Hayward
Notes: Okur showed some signs of a return to
Fantasy viability on Wednesday against the Knicks, scoring 10 points in
just 12 minutes after returning from a back strain. Eventually, he could
return to the form that saw him average 13.6 points and 7.0 rebounds
last season. He is not there yet, however, and is expected to be brought
along slowly. ... Kirilenko and Miles continue to be inconsistent as
coach Jerry Sloan and the Jazz look to find some consistency out of the
swing spots. For now, neither player should be viewed as anything more
than low-end plays in deeper formats. Lineup changes have been
considered by Sloan, but for now it remains Kirilenko at the three spot
with Miles and Hayward playing behind him.
Washington Wizards
Schedule: UTA, @MIL, PHO, BOS
Injury
Report: Andray Blatche
(shoulder/day-to-day), Josh Howard
(knee/late January)
Good Plays: John Wall, Rashard Lewis
Toss
Ups: Andray Blatche, JaVale McGee, Nick Young, Kirk Hinrich
Bad Plays: Al Thornton,
Yi Jianlian, Trevor Booker
Notes: Blatche was held out on Thursday
against Minnesota despite being activated for the game as he continues
to deal with a sprained shoulder. The plan is to give him a few days to
rest and heal. Blatche has been playing with a sleeve over the shoulder,
but has remained productive when healthy enough to play. Monitor his
progress over the weekend. ... McGee has been highly inconsistent of
late, failing to score double digits in back-to-back games since early
December. He remains a great source for blocks in deeper category
leagues, but should be reserved for now in most other formats. ... Young
will not provide Fantasy owners with much outside of scoring, but he is
doing that very well at the moment. Thanks to a 43-point effort in a
136-133 shootout against the Kings this week, he is averaging 21.0
points in January. ... Hinrich is averaging 14.6 points per game in
January to go with 4.0 assists and 2.8 rebounds.
