NBA Player News

  • Warriors' Kevon Looney: Nearly double-doubles

Looney had 12 points (6-8 FG), nine rebounds and one assist across 21 minutes during Sunday's 114-106 win over Minnesota.

Looney had a productive outing on a night the Warriors needed some size in the frontcourt to match up with Minnesota. Unless his role improves, Looney is a difficult player to trust outside of deeper formats -- he's averaging 16.6 minutes per game this season and is mostly a rebounding specialist with 7.9 boards per game.

  • Cavaliers' Jarrett Allen: Held to six points

Allen recorded six points (3-7 FG), seven rebounds and one assist over 29 minutes during Sunday's 122-113 loss to the Heat.

This was a disappointing showing for Allen on a night in which the Cavaliers really needed him to step up -- Evan Mobley was unable to play in the second half due to an ankle sprain. Allen is trending in the wrong direction in December, posting averages of 8.8 points, 9.0 rebounds, 2.2 assists and 1.0 steals over his last five games with just a single block to his name in that span.

  • Myles Turner C | MIL

Pacers' Myles Turner: Muted performance in loss

Turner ended Sunday's 113-109 loss to the Hornets with 10 points (3-9 FG, 3-4 3Pt, 1-2 FT), one rebound, one block and one steal over 21 minutes.

Turner had a night to forget Sunday and didn't help himself by getting into some foul trouble. His production in December has left a lot to be desired, as the center is averaging 12.8 points, 5.6 rebounds, 2.4 assists and 2.2 blocks on 44.7 percent shooting over his last five contests.

  • Lakers' Anthony Davis: Shines vs. Portland

Davis produced 30 points (10-21 FG, 1-4 3Pt, 9-9 FT), 11 rebounds, one assist, five blocks and two steals over 32 minutes during Sunday's 107-98 win over Portland.

Even though role players such as D'Angelo Russell and Rui Hachimura stepped up in this win, Davis carried the Lakers in the absence of LeBron James (foot). This was Davis' eighth double-double across his last nine games, and the five blocks also represented a season-high mark for the star big man. Davis averaged 21.6 points, 11.2 rebounds, 4.6 assists and 2.1 blocks per game in that nine-game stretch.

  • Trail Blazers' Deandre Ayton: Grabs 19 boards, fouls out

Ayton fouled out of Sunday's 107-98 loss to the Lakers after recording 14 points (7-14 FG, 0-2 3Pt), 19 rebounds, one assist, one block and one steal in 35 minutes.

Ayton grabbed a season-high mark in rebounds before fouling out, and the big man seems to be trending in the right direction after missing seven games in a row due to a finger injury. He's averaging 16.0 points, 9.0 rebounds and 1.3 blocks per game while shooting 62 percent from the floor in his six games since returning to action.

  • Kings' Domantas Sabonis: Fills stat sheet Sunday

Sabonis accumulated 19 points (8-13 FG, 2-3 3Pt, 1-1 FT), 12 rebounds, six assists, one block and one steal across 28 minutes during Sunday's 141-97 win over the Jazz.

Sabonis had an impressive performance on both ends of the court Sunday and seems to be starting another streak of double-doubles after his previous 18-game stretch was snapped on Dec. 3 against the Rockets. Sabonis has 21 double-doubles in 23 appearances this season, averaging 20.8 points, 12.7 rebounds, 6.2 assists and 0.7 steals per contest.

  • Wizards' Marvin Bagley: Pours in 20 points from bench

Bagley contributed 20 points (9-15 FG, 0-2 3Pt, 2-2 FT), seven rebounds, two assists and three blocks in 25 minutes during Sunday's 140-112 loss to Memphis.

Although Bagley is back on the bench, his recent results have earned him more action in the rotation. His prospects sunk when the team signed Jonas Valanciunas and drafted Alexandre Sarr in the offseason, and it's easy to forget the splash Bagley made with the Kings in his rookie season. Injuries have been an issue for most of his career, but he's shown flashes of his former self as a healthy backup for the Wizards. He is in a tough spot on the depth chart behind Sarr, but Washington may eventually make major changes that could give Bagley more fantasy value.

  • Jazz's Walker Kessler: Pulls down 14 rebounds

Kessler posted eight points (4-5 FG), 14 rebounds, two assists and four blocks in 32 minutes during Sunday's 141-97 loss to the Kings.

Kessler couldn't complete a double-double since he didn't have a lot of touches on offense, but he made the most of his opportunities while making all but one of his field goals. Kessler also grabbed double-digit rebounds for the sixth game in a row. He's averaging 14.2 points, 12.5 rebounds and 3.5 blocks per game in that span.

  • Wizards' Jonas Valanciunas: Records double-double in loss

Valanciunas supplied 20 points (8-17 FG, 0-1 3Pt, 4-4 FT), 14 rebounds, two assists and one block in 23 minutes during Sunday's 140-112 loss to the Grizzlies.

Valanciunas' veteran presence plays a role for the rebuilding Wizards, but the team continues to lose. He scored at least 20 points and recorded a double-double in each game during Washington's weekend back-to-back set, including a season-high 14 boards Sunday against Memphis and a season-high five blocks against Denver on Saturday.

  • John Collins PF | LAC

Jazz's John Collins: Solid output Sunday

Collins recorded 19 points (5-12 FG, 5-8 3Pt, 4-4 FT), seven rebounds, three assists and one block over 23 minutes during Sunday's 141-97 loss to the Kings.

Collins finished just three rebounds shy of recording what would've been his first double-double since the Nov. 26 loss to the Spurs. Still, the veteran forward continues to produce at a high level for Utah while operating as one of the team's go-to options on offense. Collins is averaging 18.0 points, 8.9 rebounds, 2.3 assists and a combined 1.5 steals-plus-blocks per game over his last 10 games.
