The 49ers placed West (undisclosed) on injured reserve Wednesday.
It remains unclear what issue is sidelining the second-year player. West will now need to miss at least four games on IR before becoming eligible to return to the active roster. The defensive tackle has logged five tackles (one solo) over 49 defensive snaps in the 49ers' first two regular-season games.
