49ers' George Kittle: In line for Week 9 return

San Francisco head coach Kyle Shanahan confirmed Kittle (calf) will return from injured reserve ahead of Sunday's game against the Cardinals, Jennifer Lee Chan of NBC Sports Bay Area reports.

The 49ers may wait until Saturday before officially adding Kittle back to the 53-man roster, but the 28-year-old tight end is on track to return to the lineup following a three-game, four-week absence due to a calf injury. Kittle rejoined the 49ers for practice Wednesday and apparently checked out well in his workouts in each of the past three days, so he looks like he'll be ready to immediately reclaim duties as the team's top tight end. Through his first four outings before landing on IR, Kittle recorded 19 receptions for 227 yards and no touchdowns on 28 targets.
