49ers' Jalen Hurd: Could be headed for IR

San Francisco head coach Kyle Shanahan said Wednesday that Hurd (knee) will be "shut down for a little bit" and could soon be placed on injured reserve, David Lombardi of The Athletic reports.
The 2019 third-round pick came back from last year's ACL tear to play in a preseason game, but the 49ers have since decided he isn't ready for additional action. Hurd is expected to miss at least the first three weeks of the season, and it isn't clear he'll have a significant role in the offense whenever he's ready to play.
