Either Gaskins or DuJuan Harris will likely start Sunday's game against the Lions with Shaun Draughn (knee) ruled out, the San Jose Mercury News reports.
Gaskins has carried the ball for the 49ers just 14 times since being brought up from the practice squad in late October, but that's 14 more than Harris, who was just added to the roster this week. Gaskins did make an impact in the passing game last week with six receptions and 52 receiving yards, so he will likely at least serve as the running back on passing downs. If he gets the early-down and/or goalline work too, he could be a sneaky Week 16 option against a Lions defense that has allowed a league-high 18 rushing touchdowns.
