Sudfeld was elevated to the 49ers' active roster from the practice squad Saturday, Matt Maiocco of NBC Sports Bay Area reports.

Sudfeld was brought up to the active roster ahead of the 49ers' Week 5 matchup with the Cardinals to serve as Trey Lance's backup, as Jimmy Garoppolo (calf) was inactive. However, in Week 7, he will be serving as Garoppolo's backup with Lance (knee) sidelined.
